Best app to use with iSpindel

I was about to ask why more dots out than in, until I realised... It only feeds the latest set of data point in every 15 minutes, one dot per graph - but grabs all the data points when coming back out.

Best app to use with iSpindel

Every 15 minutes for - SG, tilt, temperature, wifi signal and battery. It worked fine at that for previous brews, providing I didn't refresh the graphs too often, but suddenly it only allows one or two refreshes and locks me out becuase of a silly number of dots downloaded. It says in excess of...

Best app to use with iSpindel

I have muddled through with Ubidots for the past few brews, but this latest brew I am struggling due to excess 'usage' and I don't understand how or why it is exceeding the dot limit. It shows dots in at around 600 per day, but dots out at a little over 50,000 per day, which is higher than the...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I fancy trying Brewspy with my iSpindel, but it only works with an Android phone, not ios. I wonder if anyone has managed to get it to work with a Win10 PC, under Bluestacks Android emulator?

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Both routers able to provide DHCP would really make a mess of things. No, only my OpenWRT router has DHCP enabled. I have around 25 to 30 items, now all provided by static addresses by the main router, the OpenWRT.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

My FTTC comes in via the eaves, straight to my OpenWRT router in my loft. That one then has a wired LAN to the ground floor and Netgear. The second router is just configured as a normal, separate router, with its wired ports and 2 +5Ghz wifi. Most of my gadgets are configured to enable them to...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I think the default lease time is 12 hours. My main router, which handles DHCP is an ex-BT router, with the firmware changed to OpenWRT. That is wired to a second router on the ground floor, which is a Netgear WNDR3400v2. My iSpindle connects to the latter router, because it is nearer. There...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

iSpindel failing to report data. This has happened to me twice now, in my previous and current brew. The first time it occurred in mid brew, the second time it happened at the beginning of the brew, before I had even put it in the FV. The fix each time seems to be to go into the configuration...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I have nothing brewing at the moment, but I have noticed Ubidots miss the odd report. I have just assumed that the report was missed by my router.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I had no issues building or setting up my iSpindel, I will admit I struggled a little getting Ubidots working. No doubt it does need a bit of savvy to get it working, but it doesn't need bluetooth device to be dedicated to it and its data is accessible anywhere you happen to be.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

iSpindel is much cheaper and has much more user involvement.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Which was exactly what happened to me earlier this week. I had a batch on the go, nearing completion and I just wanted to check back on the graph of of one of my previous batches. I used too wide a date range, which downloaded many more data dots than I really needed - result was an instant lock...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

It took me a couple of days before I finally got Ubidots to work. It is very easy to set up, though not at all obvious.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Yes please, but I will not be doing any more brews for maybe a few months now. I am fully stocked

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

On some brewing forum, maybe this one, I came across a mention of this website which offers the facility of collecting, storing and an ability to display the graph data from an iSpindel and at no charge - all with no obvious limits on how frequently the data is sent or how often the graphs can...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I have just locked myself out of Ubidots too. I was trying find the graphs for my last brew. Not sure of the dates, I configured for a wide range, then trimmed the dates down a bit, but it locked me out on the third attempt. Would be much better if it made the problem clear rather than the...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Yes please, if you can make it 'super easy' for a novice to this sort of thing.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I soon ran into that problem, whilst assessing my newly built iSpindel a few weeks ago. Never set Ubidots to 'Enable Realtime' ( right pointing arrow upper right), that rapidly reloads and updates your Ubidots webpage and will very rapidly use up your Ubidots data allowance. Instead, only use...

    Degassing via vacuum

I would have thought that pouring from a height would introduce a lot of air (oxygen)? I try to minimise the introduction of oxygen when racking wine into bottles, but when a red has been opened ready for drinking, I decant it deliberately pouring from a height to introduce oxygen. That...
