    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

That makes a lot of sense, compared to what I am seeing in the flesh. I think I said - I have never seen the iSpindel appear in my routers log, never see it in the list of connected devices, never succeeded in pinging its IP. So far as my router is concerned, my iSpindel does not exist, apart...

My router suggest that by default, it allows a 12 hour lease.

I also often suffered like that, my W10 laptop would sometimes come out of hibernation, listing my AP, but with zero signal strength and refusing to connect to it. The only way to get it to connect was to do a complete restart of W10. SWMBO had similar issues with her laptop. Very annoying...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

It did, once appear, but generally it doesn't appear at all - problem is it connects and disconnects very quickly. Too quickly to even be logged by my router. What I did was check its MAC in the configuration page, then add that MAC with an allocated IP.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

Similar happened to me and right or wrong I developed a theory..... At the time I had two routers/ wifi access points, the main one connected to my FTTC broadband and a second one wired via LAN to the first. Lots of items on my network, some with static IP's most relying on DHCP allocated by...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I'm using an old Nook HD+, which I rooted to install Android, to enable me to run Brewspy. It is rather slow to respond, making it difficult to find my way around Brewspy, but I will try your suggestion. I'm aware the graphs are not updated instantly, they sometimes seem to lag behind by up to...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

I think we are all agreed that the Tilt is much more of a straight forward solution, but then if we want an easy life we can buy our beer and wine ready made in a bottle. I have only tried two data display solutions, Ubidots and Brewspy. I liked Ubidots graphs, the fact that it displayed the...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

That is a bit unfair on the iSpindel. The tilt is a professionally built unit, the iSpindel build quality is quite variable, depending on the skill of builders some of whom have never built something like it before. Aside from that, it can sometimes need a bit of skill in wifi networking too and...

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

It has to be your calibration formulae which is in error.

    iSpindel - digital WiFi hydrometer

You will get minor variations as bubbles collect on the iSpindel, but nothing too drastic. One thing I disagree with in the video, is his method of getting the 25 degree balance. Using tape and pushing it in and out of the tube, means that each time you charge it, it will be inclined to move and...

I am now testing Brewspy in an actual brew. There is rather a lot to it, much more than I expected - yet little in the way of instructions of how to use it, but I seem to have it working. One thing is puzzling me about the graphs - they seem to update randomly with no obvious way to get it to...

Can you read your hydrometer to that level of accuracy, I certainly think not? If you add an excessive amount of sugar, then yes the volume will certainly increase, but not the amounts of sugar needed for calibration of the iSpindel. The point being, the iSpindel once calibrated using dissolved...

Adding sugar (or salt) does not increase the volume, once it is dissolved - the sugar fills the spaces between the water molecules, so only the SG changes. I have cross-checked my iSpindel against my hydrometer and it coincides perfectly with it, as near as I can read the hydrometer. To be...

There, I will have to disagree with you, because hydrometers can be very difficult to read with any accuracy. By contrast the iSpindel is capable of producing much better accuracy, so why try to calibrate using a much less accurate standard like the hydrometer? Tap water, at 20C we can be sure...

The sugar calibration is by far the more accurate method, more accurate than comparing to an actual glass hydrometer and the way I did it. You don't need lots of sugar just enough to alter the SG of a 2L of tap water, in a suitable plastic jug. Start with an accurate measure of 2L of water, at...

I haven't had data outages, but have had the data simply stop completely. I made an assumption that the iSpindel simply lost its temporary allocated IP by my router. I have now changed my router config, to give all the items on my LAN, static IP's. If you really meant, that Ubidots suddenly...

I have found a solution, to using Brewspy..... I have had an old Nook HD+ sat around gathering dust for some years. Whilst it ran a version of Android, it was a none standard B&N version and would not load Brewspy from Googleplay. So I went searching for some way of rooting it and installing a...

I am presently testing Brewspy out, on my Win10 64bit laptop, using an Android emulator called Bluestacks. Bluestacks brings my laptop almost to its knees, but Brewspy does seem to be working, getting data, and showing it on screen. Looks quite good, more informative than Ubidots, I just wish...

The numbers still don't add up as I would expect.... UP - 24hours x 4 readings per hour x 5 data items = 480 dots - that agrees with Unibots usage. DOWN 7 Days worth of dots x 24 x 4 x 5 = 3360 dots - not the 50,000 which Ubidots suggests in usage. Call it 4000 dots per refresh of the data...

Ubidots was supplying its graph data again this morning, it seems to reset the data count at around midnight. This morning I refreshed it to grab the latest graphs just three times and my profile> Usage suggests I have already exceeded the daily download limit. I don't think three graph checks...
