Is there something special about boiling?

Just wondering if there is something special about the water boiling when brewing or cooking or to ask it another way if you are brewing or cooking at an altitude where water boils at 85C would the resulting beer or food be the same as if you did the boil or cooked at 85C at sea level when the...

    Keg lost carbonation

Have the kegs been connected to the gas at 12 psi since they were OK or could they have been sitting at 0 for ages then been put up to 12? Don't think about the cylinder feeding them is fine a and not the problem.

Car insurance offer to low? Anyone had experience in this

Except in this case it clearly does I can find high mileage ones for sale from £1400-£2500 but the only ones with under 120K are £3950 - £5000 and I have demonstrated that in an online auction my car if not damaged should have sold for over £3990. Also what has the trade in value got to do with it?

Car insurance offer to low? Anyone had experience in this

I have finally been offered £2800 for my car being written off (up from there original offer of £2500). Its a 2004 Skoda Fabia VRS with only 71000 miles and I was the second owner from new. £2800 doesn't sound bad for a car that old but there are none for sale in the country with less than...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Thats 1 reason I used hospital admissions, I agree a positive test result doesn't mean you are ill or will get ill but if they were totally false we should have seen a large no testing positive twice which we are not.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Thank you for sharing I sincerely hope you are OK. I agree this new strain does seem to be much more contagious, to put it into numbers using hospital admissions unless stated. In the 1st wave with no restrictions yet in place doubling time was around 5 days in England as a whole, in the...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I think I have found some good data on hospital capacity. Does anyone know is Critical care the same as ICU? I added the totals + free capacity columns both % & nos and hid alot of the data to fit on 1 screen. 27/12 was the most recent data.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

They are now saying they are going to delay the second *** of the Pfizer vaccine from 12 weeks despite there not being much evidence the 1st dose does much on its own. This seems to be just to ensure more people have some protection quicker...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Interestingly the Oxford vaccine they are now saying a single dose is enough to stop severe disease but a second will be given after 3 months purely to extend the immunity. So it sounds very good to stop deaths and hospitalisation in those vaccinated but not so good at stopping the spread. Due...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Just an observation in the week to 24/12/2020 (latest data) London had over 1/5th of all its positives since the start, the East had very nearly a 1/5th and the south east over a 6th (no other region even close). So in these areas risk of catching it are as high as they have ever been.
