    Quick sparge / Low OG

Isn't iodine test after mash, pre sparge something worth doing. The problem might not be in the sparge after all?

    Buying Train Tickets

I wouldn't rely on that method, I jumped on the wrong train ending up at Victoria (rather than a smaller station en route) and had to pay to get back. Wasn't allowed to jump on my bike and cycle back (which would have been quicker)

    Buying Train Tickets

If you're journey takes you through London then the cost is higher than if you can avoid the city. Brighton Canterbury was £42 through London the normal way, but via Ashford (Kent) avoiding the smoke £19, it took 20-30 minutes longer but for the saving

I think you'll find that 25kg sacks of malt if for home-brewing are liable to vat. If it hasn't been charged then that is a mistake of the supplier. To get no vat would require proof of commercial use. It's not the quantity but the use of that is the determining factor.

Might there not be a problem with the auto-siphon tube being smaller bore than the one it is attached to? Limiting flow?

Surely if beer is being made for selling then someone must register HMRC/EHO (and if reselling to trade AWRS) ?

    Nano/Pilot Brewery Build

But absolutely worth doing, good luck, it is very satisfying in the end. Another problem I had was neighbour, cost £400 to go through planning to be told that my application had failed, but as system small didn't need planning! And then neighbour put in a complaint re smell. Neighbour would...

A major problem I had was getting electric supply sorted, running 2/3 elements wasn't good for the house wiring.

    Nano/Pilot Brewery Build

After a few years brewing and positive feedback from friends, family and beer nerds (although they may just be nice and free beer always tastes better). I have been thinking about scaling my batch size with an end goal of being able to sell very small quantities to the public, I have been...

I think that even though it's under duty strength it is still beer and so the brewer should be registered as a producer of beer?

    Grain prices creeping up.

Am I right in suggesting that malt needs heat to be made? It is the energy companies that are the ones that are enjoying the price rises, including the Russian energy companies. I was told, at the maltings, that the price had been held last year, which has now skipped from £17 to £26. And thats...
