    Pump or hoist?

That is precisely why I had my unit on the floor in the first place!

    Pump or hoist?

I was kind of thinking of going the exact opposite route!

    Pump or hoist?

I have looked at this sort of thing, but I don't have anywhere to store it and I'm hoping for a cheaper solution!

    Pump or hoist?

Do you reckon you'd get enough height off it? Would your system fit on it? Bit scary balancing boiling wort on it!

    Pump or hoist?

This does sound like a sensible plan.

Mashing in HLT on (not quite) all-in-one system (side-by-side mashing)

In essence, I am kind of batch sparging. After conversion, I add water to the HLT, heat it and give it a good stir, then drain it. The only difference is when I drain it, I run it over the other grains. I have thought about exactly what you describe, but there are a few reasons I decided against...

    Pump or hoist?

I'm lifting the kettle. Well, it's an all-in-one, so it is pretty heavy when full. The reason I had to lift it yesterday was because it was raining, so I was brewing in my shed. There is a surface I should have put the kettle on in there, but it is a bit too high to be able to safely lift the...

    Pump or hoist?

You reckon a 1/2" pump would clog? I was kind of hoping it would just blast through it. Acutally, I do whirlpool, so I reckon I could open the valve into a jug first to get shot of the first bit of trub, then attach the pump.

    Pump or hoist?

I am (or was) lifting the kettle, but not by the handles.

    Pump or hoist?

Actually, that's something I should have given mroe detail about! Generally, I try to brew outside on a big bench, but when it's raining, I bew indoors on the floor. I have an outbuilding where all my fermenters, etc are, and brew inside there when it's raining. However, we've had it boarded out...

    Pump or hoist?

This is a great idea. I already have some speaker stands so wonder if I can firgure out how to attach a "Y" to the top of them.

    Pump or hoist?

Hi all, I'm after some advice. Yesterday, I ruined my back trying to lift a brew kettle. I think it will take a long time to heal, and I'm obviously not yound enough to be lifting 27L of wort anymmore. So, I've had a quick think about my options, and I think I need to invest in either a pump or...

Mashing in HLT on (not quite) all-in-one system (side-by-side mashing)

Hello, I recently posted about my disappointment in trying to brew a big-ish IPA in a 35L Klarstein all in one. I used 6.5kg of grain and only got an OG of 1.041. This is lower than I would have got if I'd used considerably less grain. So I became aware of the limitations of smaller all-in-one...

    Unpredictable efficiency on all-in-one system

I didn't know that. I must say, though, Brulosophy aside, I think there are a lot of homebrewing conventions that are questionable. For instance, it have never found any use for hop additions between sixty minutes and the last few minutes. I've found that adding hops at 30, 20 and even 10...

    Unpredictable efficiency on all-in-one system

One thing I would be concerned about with stirring is that the wort is amazingly crystal clear after forty minutes or so without stirring. I would think frequent stirring would cloud it up again, but maybe not? And whether this cloudiness would have any impact on the finished beer, I've no idea...

Low cost all grain hoppy IPA recipe?

I've found I can get something close to Neck Oil with 50g whirlpool and 100g dry hop. Bittering hop doesn't really matter - just need to get up to about 40 IBUs. Admiral is a good low cost bittering hop. I turn use Simcoe in the whirlpool and Centennial with Citra for dry hopping. 700g sounds...

    Unpredictable efficiency on all-in-one system

I will certainly give this a try. I heat my sparge water in another Klarstein vessel (I forget the name, but it's about 25 L capacity, I think, and it came with a false bottom). I reckon for larger grain bills, like 6kg, I will throw a couple of kgs in the HLT to mash at the same time as the...

    Headaches, shakes - hangover?

Interesting. Do you get headaches from wine? I use CRS, gypsum and campden tablets to treat my water normally. I'm assuming you have no issues with chlorine/chloramines tastes?
