    Not forever blowing bubbles

"The Belgium-based company AB InBev says it has developed a technique to generate gas bubbles without the need to boil the water and hops. Bubbles are said to be crucial in determining the taste of a beer. Traditionally, gas bubbles are generated via steam through the natural cooking process...

First BIAB. Need help with mash/sparge vols

I did my first full batch in my new ACE last week after a couple of practices with lower volumes. Like you I wasn't sure about mash and sparge volumes so just had a bit of a guess. I mashed 4kg of grain in 14 litres then dunk sparged in another 14 litres. After the boil I had just over 20 litres...

    Brewdog offers

Brewdog have a couple of offers on at the moment. 12 Electric India for £12 and 24 Kingpin for £24 both with free delivery. The Electric India is saying out of stock at the moment but they seem to get more in every day.

    Hello

Hi MrEgg, What sort of beer are you thinking of making? Are you going to start off with a kit? Plenty of good advice on here whatever you decide to do!

    Clear beer

Nice of the chaps at CERN to let you use their kit! Apart from dunk sparging that is pretty much what I do and my beers end up nice and clear.

    Sediment.

I like that the reason for your edit is 'clarity' when talking about cloudy beer! :)

    London Learner!

That's a good one to start with. My first kit was the Young's American Amber back in June which turned out really well. I've now done about 15 different brews, the last four or so being all grain. I've got similar temperature changes as you at the moment so will just have to wait and see what...

    London Learner!

Plenty of good advice on here, been a massive help to me. What are you brewing? Has it gone well so far?

    Made me laugh.

That's brilliant! Wonder if it worked?

Can someone settle a grammatical argument?

I'm not sure if it solves the argument either way, but of the 50% who don't have blue eyes some will only have one eye or even none.....

    All grain taste box

Just seen this on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/182346487426 Sounds like quite a cool idea. Although the yeast and fermentation will obviously affect the final taste, how well would this work to put together a recipe, mixing different amounts of grains together?

    Immersion chiller. Well happy

Good work, that looks great! I used my (bought) chiller for the second time today and it saves so much time.

    What did you brew today?

Just finished cleaning up after my fourth AG brewing session, and it went pretty well today. Had a go at a smoked beer, not sure whether it would be classed as a rauchbier or a smoked porter but the sample was very promising. Managed to bottle my red rye AG while the boil was on so quite a...

    Good morning.

Apparently they sold it to someone called Benn who the Metcalfes must have bought it off. Thanks for posting the photos. The stall looks just like it did 40 years ago. Nice to see the cafe too. I was allowed a Club biscuit from there if I'd been good!

What's your experience with Home Brew Company

I've only used them once but very happy with the service. Delivered in 2 days and everything well packaged and labelled. Will be ordering from them again soon as my stock of grain is running low.

    Quick question.

Hi gamekeepa. They are the times to the end of the boil, so the 60 minute ones go in at the start.

    Good morning.

I can't remember if there was a sign with their name but they were called Dixon. It was right in front of you as you went in the front entrance.

    Good morning.

My grandma and grandad used to have a fruit and veg stall in the market hall there back in the 70s. I've not been there for a few years but those photos bring back memories. Been up Hoad many times, great views from there over Morecambe Bay. Didn't Ulverston used to have the most pubs per...

    Hi from Sheffield

+1 to what fourbob said. I ferment and warm condition in the spare room then once bottled move down to the cellar for cold conditioning. I've not tried Sequoia but the Youngs American Amber was the very first beer I made and it turned out really good. I mostly do all grain now too, but...

    Hi from Sheffield

Hi BrewDan, I'm in Sheffield too. Think there are a few of us here on the forum. Following the 2+2+2 rule you should just about have something drinkable by Christmas but it will probably taste better if you gave it a couple more weeks. The beer kit review section might give you an idea how long...
