    IPA brewing temperature

The best way, but requires more money, is to run your heat pad through an Inkbird set at 20-21 degrees. The Inkbird will switch the pad on and off as required but will maintain the desired temperature for you. I have one on the go right now and i have mine set at 21 degrees through the inkbird...

    Brewelder’s 1st Brewday

That’s a bit of a long winded story mate. I bought the kit from KegThat but they messed up the hops by sending 4gms of each as opposed to 4gms per litr (100gms) anyway i tried calling them and sent 2 emails but no response so wanting to get a brew on while off work over the Christmas i decided...

    Brewelder’s 1st Brewday

Day 2, but still not 24 hrs in yet as i didn’t actually start my brew day till around 1:00 yesterday, so that was mistake number 1 as i didn’t finish up till after 8:00 last night then by the time i had a quick clean down it was late. Anyway, all went pretty well and there were no real...

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Just read it again and it’s conflicting mate, the description says 30ltrs but the verbiage states 35ltrs???

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Suppose it all depends on your batch sizes really. I could probably get away with a 30 litre kettle as i usually discard a few litrs once the corny keg is full and I know a lot of people bottle whatever doesn’t fit into the kegs but i don’t bother so i could maybe brew smaller batches and get...

    Brewelder’s 1st Brewday

Well, here goes. This is my very first brewday thread so go easy on my. I’ve posted a couple of threads on here recently and the latest one was asking for advice on an All in One system. However, I’ve decided toi run with my current set up which is basically a mash kettle and a “Heath Robinson”...

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Looks like a good bit of kit mate and my only advice, and this might not even apply to you, but i would go for 35litres if possible. I do 23 litre brews and to get that 23 ltrs you need to start with around 30 ltrs so you’re at max capacity with no room for errors. Having said that my Klarstein...

I’m just having a quick cuppa while the strike water heats up, i will probably post a Brew Day thread either tonight or more likely tomorrow.

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Understand mate, but i currently have a brew on the go right now and basically I’ve used the mash kettle to heat the sparge water and I’ve gone 10 degrees over the required 80 degrees with the view that it will drop at least ten degrees whilst waiting for the mash. A while back i bought a...

Yeah, but you’d normally sparge regardless which method you use. I’ve gone down the re-circ pump route, but you can also use a measuring jug or similar. Really, you’re just trying to extract as much sugar from the grains as possible and also get your pre-boil volumes right.

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Yes, that’s what I’m doing today mate. The Bag as in BIAB is just a vessel to hold the grains, a basket is exactly that also. BIAB is the simplest form of “All Grain” brewing. The new style Grainfathers, Brewzilla etc are a step up from BIAB and use a basket or Malt Pipe as they are also...

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Just to avoid any crossed wires, which basket are you referring to? This one? https://www.lovebrewing.co.uk/boiler-sparge-grain-holder/ If yes, then reading the description i would say no it doesn’t mate, but i could be wrong. I guess you could contact Lovebrewing for clarity. Or maybe source...

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

I think so, the basket measures 260mm across, my Klarstein measures 285mm.

Fantastic price that but for now I’m sticking with my current set up. I admit it looks like as great bit of kit, however for now I’ve decided to focus on my brewing techniques rather than throw cash at it, maybe later in the year i might have a rethink, but for now i need to just brew and learn...

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

As promised, here’s some photo’s of the mods i made today, still only a 1st pass at it and once i get the PID all wired up i might streamline the plumbing, but the layout and components won’t change, maybe just the run of the plumbing might change slightly. So basically you need: 4 x 1/2” Tap -...

    BIAB - Numpty Questions

Rest assure mate, Klarstein are decent quality and while i have no experience of other brands, i own a Klarstein and it serves me well. Bottom line, it’s a big kettle, capable of mashing and boiling and will hold any given temperature, so as equipment goes it’s pretty basic but that’s not...
