    Old Timers

When I first came to brewing in 2012 I used this forum and Jim's, both great resources , helped me go from kits to building a 3 vessel system using old mango chutney barrels and tesco value kettles, converting a cool box into a mash tun lol. I was then seduced by the shiny Speidel side and built...

    Hosepipe ban.

ooooh yes Butterscotch flavour for me please !😋 Had to laugh this morning on the BBC the drought snippet was promptly followed by the weather lady Carole saying that it will rain later in the week! I can't help but feel the media do love to dramatise anything these days.

    Anna's Brewdays

They are very secretive about their recipes lol, I've always wanted the recipe for "harbour special" as I always think it's how Doom bar used to taste before Sharp's brewery got bought out. sorry Anna scope creep ,your fault for going to Cornwall :laugh8:

    Anna's Brewdays

Did you try the Mena Dhu stout? Big job is also a nice beer at 7.2%abv. I would also recommend the beer and chocolate pairings they sell in the shop. we are heading down this weekend for a quick Cornwall fix and will hopefully stock up with some local favourites especially Tintagel Brewery's...

How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

sadly down to the last 3x330ml bottles of this lovely beer, was aged with some whisky soaked oak chips and being a strong stout was definitely a sipper! I'm going to brew this next month and use some 25 year old scotch whisky staves this time and then bottle it to save the fridge space ! :laugh8...

How to repair the black rubber on top of a corny keg?

I have this with one keg in particular, it has been in a fridge for 6 years conditioning an imperial stout, now I've cleaned and get black hands everytime I touch the handles lol. Has anybody tried the armor all spray ? it's about £6 on amazon at the mo (in its german format).

Having watched Andy's videos on youtube I wanted to have a go at brewing "Murgy straight". Not the best way to cure a post beer festival head lol so not too many photos; seem to hit the 1041: colour looks good: all tucked up with first use of Ispindel:

    Messed up big time

oooh yes be careful sniffing CO2 ! many years ago I saw an italian commissioning engineer fall into a large fruit juice tank when he forgot about the CO2 blanket! boy was he wet and embarrassed and very sticky, we had to dump the whole tank!

    What did you brew today?

19 lts Kegged and bottled (3x500ml) of my "Kwak" clone , it came in a bit light at 7.7% abv as I overshot on the volume but to get a bit extra I'll take the hit lol. I have harvested the yeast to use in my Hercule stout (9%abv) which I'll brew once I've got Four Priests "Murgy straight" brewed...

    Heat pad fermentation chamber

In my case I used a tubular heater and made a wooden plate for the brackets to sit on. The rationale being it allows the heat to transfer without any direct contact with the fridge interior. As most fridges are plastic I'd be a little worried about using a heat mat on this surface. I have no...

    Messed up big time

Don't worry about it , there probably isn't one brewer here who hasn't made mistakes we kick ourselves for, for instance: bending down to get something from the cupboard below your Braumeister with a sturdy stainless tap and camlock fitting attached and then standing up completely forgetting...
