What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Bottle of Alpha greek lager and celebrating eldest smashing his GCSE results (6 nines, 4 eights). On the negative side of the equation, he has contracted covid and we can't go home as planned. After a bit of cat and mouse with the authorities we have now installed ourselves in some new digs for...

What do you all think of The 100 Cricket ?

Likewise - I am a massive cricket lover. Probably been to over 100 test matches and always preferred the longer form of the game. I was initially scathing - in fact really put my foot in it chatting to the partner of one of my wife's friends at a party who after I had delivered my damning...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

First taster of what is meant to be Ruby mild clone which I have brewed for outlaws surprise 40th wedding do. Its too cold and not carbed and looks like a glass of mud. Had hoped to bottle from keg tomorrow before holidays on Sunday. Ain't going to happen so it will get another 2 weeks and as we...

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Stressful time trying to sort out covid arrangements ahead of next weekends trip to Greece (deferred from last year when ironically it would have been easier to go) so time for a restorative German Pilsner.

    Corny keg newbie help

That's a ball lock you've got there. I'd get larger gas bottle particularly if you can source via the pub. Works out a lot cheaper than soda stream option. Would only go the latter if either its really hard to source tank or you want a degree of portability.

    All grain kits

Use to buy them from Brew UK when started out - they have quite a few clones of well known beers.

Reusing Doombar mini keg for homebrew ?

As others have said I wouldn't bother with the gamble of getting the metallic taste. Losing 5 litres twice due to reusing was two times too many as far as I am concerned.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Time to fire up the nitro for a cold dry stout. Thank goodness for the emergency spare. The small in keezer one has gone to the atmosphere gods of leaks.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

Elderflower shampoo bottled and Ruby mild kegged so time to settle down in front of lions with a pint of German Pilsner.

    Kegs?

Add on another £20 for inevitably getting something wrong and losing a tank of CO2 to the atmosphere.

    Kegs?

Normal fridge - the ones of mine that aren't in the keezer have to sit in 30+ degrees at this time of year and I have never noticed that causing deterioration per se.

    Kegs?

Keeps for an age as completely inert once under the gas. As @Rodcx500z says your problem will be them breeding as if your only having a few pints a week you wont have a keg ready for next brew and ultimately that will become frustrating and once you have the rest of the kit the extra cost is...

    Elderflower Champagne First Timer

Been putting off bottling mine as its just so bloody hot in the brewcave. Has been in cold crash for nearly a week now. I'm hopeful it fermented out - got down to 996. Going to use two coopers carbonation drops (purely as I have them and they are not going to get used) in 660ml brown swing...

Best base hop for Irish dry stout?

Well Ive never tried it without as since came up with the recipe done it a couple of times and its always been good.I guess using a crystal helps to balance against the roastiness of the roasted barley which can be quite astringent,
