thanks folks - I used about 80g of sugar for 20l of beer - I will try a couple of beers with a carb drop first and see how that goes before attempting to do it on the rest, suppose that makes sense

Adding carbonation drop to flat beer

I bottled on the 24th nov but I did remember thinking the amount was a little low, figured it was due to me usually brewing lagers or pale ales! So its been in the warm for 2 weeks and in the fridge since Saturday. That's usually enough for me so I'm sure its the lack of sugar at bottling time.

Adding carbonation drop to flat beer

Hi - after some advice..... My 80 shilling I bottled with too little sugar and although its carbed up, I hear a hiss when opening, its pretty lifeless and flat. Im going to add a carbonation drop to each bottle and recap (These are the carbonation drops that suggest 2 per 500ml bottle, so I...

What else do I need to buy for a fermenter king gen3 starter kit?

Just bought the kit, a CO2 regulator and a tap so all set! The CO2 regulator is this, Professional Co2 Regulator & Threaded Disconnect It takes the CO2 sparklet bulb things, threaded ones but will that also take a bottle of CO2 or do I need an adapter?

What else do I need to buy for a fermenter king gen3 starter kit?

So prv valve sounds good, I then need a tap and a CO2 bottle and I'm good to go? If I put say the 10psi valve in, can I ferment under that pressure and will it then carbonate off of that gas? Or do I need a CO2 canister with a pressure valve/gauge and a 10psi prv, would that work?

What else do I need to buy for a fermenter king gen3 starter kit?

This is getting more and more expensive! Feel it's a bit of a con to sell this as everything you need, I thought 8 would need gas but by the time you add everything else, it's pretty much doubles the price of it, or am I missing something?

What else do I need to buy for a fermenter king gen3 starter kit?

If I was going to serve from the vessel, I assume I still need proper CO2 Bottles? Where do you buy them from? Also do I not need a pressure gauge on the CO2 bottle so it stops pumping in CO2?

What else do I need to buy for a fermenter king gen3 starter kit?

I'm looking to buy this Fermenter King Gen 3 Starter Kit the fermenter king gen 3 starter kit. It says it comes with everything but I'm not sure it does.... I'm just totally confused with it as I've never done any pressure fermenting or anything with CO2 bottles, so I'm looking for some advice...

Water profile, do I need to add acid?

Ah ok, I'm about 15 miles south of Edinburgh and my water report shows 2mg of magnesium I think. But I see what you mean about the malt also having some, so I don't need to add any more. Will have another look at the salt additions with no Epson then.

    CO2 gun for purging bottles?

I have no idea! But my hoppy beers seem to only last a few days, I was hoping that adding in CO2 to the bottle would remove some of the oxygen and give them a bit more shelf life

Water profile, do I need to add acid?

Not sure what you mean about the Epsom salts? There is no Epsom salts already in, sorry I'm a bit confused with the whole eater additions thing!

Water profile, do I need to add acid?

Yeah sorry, the malt bill has been added to the calc. It's 3.8kg of pale, 165g of light crystal, 248g of medium crystal and 165g of wheat. It's strange measures as I'm buying a kit but the 19l. Version so it's been scaled down from the 23l one

Water profile, do I need to add acid?

I'm just outside Edinburgh and my water is pretty pure, I've got the water report and plugged the figures into the ez water calc. I'm adding 4.8g of gypsum, 1.9 of calcium chloride and 2.9g of Epsom salts to get the following profile Ca 76 Mg 13 An 8 Cl48 So4 155 Which seems good for a hoppy...
