Will you drink in Wetherspoons when pubs re-open?

Yes I reckon: conflate verb [ T ] UK /kənˈfleɪt/ US /kənˈfleɪt/ to combine two or more separate things, especially pieces of text, to form a whole:

I was enjoying the debate, open discussion and different opinions are healthy

I am using the correct word to describe what you are doing. If you don't want to further the discussion that is fine by me.

No smoke and mirrors. You started waffling on about "britishness sourcing" and "british firsting" and tried to conflate it to laying off staff. I pointed out that these things are completely unrelated. He always wanted to furlough is staff, that is the whole point which you have seemed to have...

You suggested the hypocrisy Also, where he chooses to source his stock has nothing to do with his furlough of staff. It is two completely different subjects. To the best of my knowledge he hasnt been laying them off but has been using furlough scheme to keep them?

Because he is a proponent of Brexit then he is hypocritical to take advantage of government furlough scheme? I'm not sure I follow? He is looking to protect his business and in turn his staff (if he didn't wait until furlough scheme confirmed he would likely have no option to release them), and...

I think you are conflating two separate points here. What has backing Brexit and putting your staff on furlough through a government scheme have to do with each other? Plenty of anti Brexit company owners will have used the same scheme? Or because he backed Brexit he has no moral right to furlough?

Scotland largely the same, at least on the West Coast.

Agree that we are all in this together, but these business owners have to try and ensure their businesses survive these times. There are knock on effects to their employees, suppliers, creditors etc if they go under. As Clint mentioned earlier, these big companies tend not to be cash rich and...

Will you drink in Wetherspoons when pubs re-open?

I think the whole Tesco comment was misconstrued (possibly on purpose by some of the media). I'm pretty sure it was meant as "I can't afford to pay you if you are not working, but I am happy for you to work elsewhere until this is sorted out". If I was an employer I wouldn't want to pay wages...

Will you drink in Wetherspoons when pubs re-open?

To be fair, Im not sure they caved to public opinion. It seems that they were waiting for government confirmation and then finally got that and moved forward. Whatever you think of Timmy boy, he's not daft. I think its unlikely he would want to lose trained and experienced staff and have to...

They didn't refuse to pay the workers, they were paid for the work they did. They refused to take on all costs of furlough until it was settled with the government. The staff can't expect wages for not working. Its the simplest part of a contract of labour. An exchange of time and effort in...

Will you drink in Wetherspoons when pubs re-open?

On the point of how Wetherspoons treat their staff, I can say from personal experience they treat them well. I worked for them a while ago and can honestly say they were better than 90% of independent pubs I worked in. They paid you on time, by the right amount for all hours worked and gave you...

How do you stick your labels onto bottles.

Milk applied thinly with a pastry brush. Cheap, easy and works a treat.

New to brewing and going to full mash method first

For sure, as long as there is plenty ventilation you should be fine.

I went for gas burner as I wasn't keen on stuff burning on the elements at the bottom of the kettle. As mentioned it does have its drawbacks as you have to boil outside. That's where pop up toilet tents come in handy though.

    Hop bag and syphon tube

You might not need the bag as a filter if the tap sits above the level of the gunk at the bottom of the fermenter.

    Storing bottled beer

If you are buying crates look for the height clearance, especially if you reuse commercial bottles of different heights. The ones I bought take and stack some, but others like hobgoblin bottles for example are too tall and renders stacking obsolete.

    What did you brew today?

Brewed a Kolsch and a "sort of" Baltic Porter, both from GH bible. "Sort of" Baltic Porter because I switched out the yeast to US-05 as I dont have fermentation fridge and can only ferment at room temp. Same reason I wanted to try a Kolsch. Baltic Porter also only a half batch as I dont think...
