I’ve made the WE Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon and agree with @Nottsbeer. Perfectly drinkable straight away but quite a bit better a few months later. Have given a few bottles away to friends and, unless they were just being polite, they were pretty pleased with them too.

And as there isn’t a thread called “what did you brew two days ago”, then belatedly I brewed my first AG stout on Saturday, based on the Hughes recipe. Update on this. Had a couple of bottles at the weekend and it’s tasting really good. Not sure it’s exactly the same as real TTL (lighter colour and a touch less malty) but nice floral notes and better than the bottled version of TTL.

My chocolate mild, very nice and already improved compared to last weeks (very young) bottle.

In progress at the moment, an alleged Tim Taylor Landlord clone, using an all grain recipe kit from Brew Day. Malt is golden promise, hops are Fuggles, EKG and Styrian Goldings.

Still conditioning in bottles. Tasting before bottling was pretty good and it looks to be clearing well.

Another Citra Pale yesterday. Changed my mind last minute, was going to be a 11.5 litre all grain batch with a total of 50g hops but I decided to make a bigger batch and use up some leftover pale DME. So after the mash I added that to the boil and bumped up the hops to a whole packet of Citra...

Yesterday evening I celebrated successful completion of my second AG brew day by conducting the first tasting of the results of my first ever AG brew day. A mighty ESB. Very pleased with this.

Wort is now cooling in the sink. The specific heat capacity of H2O is a mighty thing, it’s a pretty slow process. Once cooled the wort will be treated to some Safale US-05.

It was this one. Muntons Gold “Imperial” Stout. Not really Imperial at all but pretty good.

I’ve taken some of my beer on holiday with me. This stout is just from a kit but dare I say it’s better than the bottle of G**n***s I also brought.

A pint (ok, maybe two) of Loweswater Gold at the Kings Head Thirlmere. Suitable reward for a successful conquest of Helvellyn today. A superb day for walking.

Sneaked in a very early taste (well, just the two bottles) of my Citra Pale. Extract recipe loosely based on Greg Hughes Citra\Simcoe but only using Citra. Flippin ‘eck it’s good. Just need some warm weather to go with it.

OK I get you. I don't think this supplier offered the choice but some others do so I'll look out for that.
