    Lager Making

I plan on brewing a lager tomorrow but only have one 10g pack to start off, would it be a problem to pitch the one pack tomorrow and pitch another packet on Monday when my 2nd packet arrives or would it be better to pitch it both at the same time. I plan on fermenting at around 10-12° I’m using...

    Lager Making

Quick question, do you find you need more than the usual 10g of yeast for a 20litre batch when fermenting at low temperatures.

    Cost of Beer Kits

I take it by dunk sparging you put the amount of sparge water the recipe calls for in a separate tub at the same temp as the mash water, dunk it for a bit to rinse out the grain then transfer it to a boiler with the rest of the wort for the boil up, does that sound right.

    Cost of Beer Kits

I’m a real newbie at this and I’m only on my 2nd brew now, my first kit was a youngs aipa that came with the starter kit, which turned out very very nice despite several noob mistakes. i paid around £68 for the youngs starter kit with a pb, fv, hydrometer and thermometer airlock and a couple of...

    Next brew

Well i have my 2nd brew sat in the brew fridge happily bubbling at 20° so while my brew fridge is being used i want to start another brew and leave it in the cellar to ferment as it has a constant temp of around 9-12° down there so i plan on doing a lager using mj bavarian lager m76 yeast so if...

No, I’m only on my 2nd kit beer, I’ve got a MJ czech pilsner on at the moment and my first was a youngs American ipa. I don’t have any hops at the moment i’m just looking for ideas of how best to use up the extract i have. Preferably without a boil involved as i only have a small 9l pot at the...

Pure malt enhancer or liquid malt extract.

I’m a bit confused as to the difference in these 2 things. Looking at the mangrove jacks pure liquid malt extract and mangrove jacks pure malt enhancer, can somebody tell me what is the difference between these two malts please.

    BIAB

Hi Covrich I’m just looking at the best way to do it with the size of pot i have to hand which is a 20 litre one. I am thinking a mash in the pot and sparge separately then boil up then transfer to fv and top up with cold water to the 20-23 litre amount dependant on OG target. Does this make...

    BIAB

I’m just reading James Morton’s book ‘Brew’ and as i have most of the kit to be able to start AG brewing, which is my ultimate aim, i only have a 20 litre stock pot and can’t see me justifying another outlay for a 30litre+ pot, just yet. So I like his suggestion of liquoring back, he says the...

    South Cheshire Ingredients Buying Club

Hi OB this sounds like a great venture to be a part of, I’m in Stockport but can get wherever needed to pick up. I’d be in for a bag of MO and maybe a few other bits, just a couple of questions, how should it be stored when opened and how long before it spoils. Thanks, Pete.

    AG Brewing to a recipe

it’s an MJ kit comes with a dry hop pack, going to use lme instead of sugar but i was reading in charlie papazian book to try a boil up even if it’s a kit lager to get some practice in at boiling up and also it makes a better kit beer. I don’t know if I’m doing right doing it that way or whether...
