New Recipes in CAMRAs Essential Homebrew Book.

Anyone using this book? What do you think? It's one of the few brewing books I don't yet have and like the sound of the recipes although I'm not familiar with any of the beers. Anyway it's just been added to my Christmas list

Amarillo Single Hop Ale - Greg Hughes

What he said, but personally I would keep the late hop additions the same and only reduce the early additions by 5/9ths. Run it through a calculator to make sure your not adding too much bittering.

Does your beer make you Fart?

Just done a series of beers using us05 and they are the worst yet as far as farting is concerned, my wife ended up on the sofa several nights. Early test results using London ale 3 seems to be much more stomach friendly for me. I've only recently come to the conclusion that different yeasts have...

    Toning my beer ABV down

This thread caused me to dig out a bottle of one of my stronger beers, it's around 8% and brewed 14 months ago, it's a historical beer from Ron Pattisons book, it's good, it gets better every time I sample it, but for everyday drinking (or Friday to Sunday drinking in my case) I think I'm going...

    Toning my beer ABV down

I do an occasional stronger beer to put aside for aging but most of my beers tend to be 4.5 to 5%. I can turn these round quickly, around 2 weeks grain to glass and I can have several pints and avoid a hangover the next morning. For me that's preferable to sipping a stronger beer.

    Refill sodastream bottles

It's because I'm not made of money. Having looked at the adapters I already have I recon I can skip the regulator at the soda stream end altogether, won't know for sure until it's empty.

    Refill sodastream bottles

I don't believe my smaller regulater is one way, it's a mini one that can be used for 8g ? Cylinders, soda stream or full size bottle depending what adapters you use it with (maltmiller) certainly I've noticed than when changing the mini cylinders the c02 from the keg will vent out through the...

    Refill sodastream bottles

That's all I need to do, pressurise it with enough Co2 to dispense a 5 litre minikeg. Doesnt need to be full, when it runs out I can recharge from main c02 cylinder out in the garage.

    Refill sodastream bottles

Actually, I'm wondering if I even need an adapter for my purposes, I have a regulater that fits each cylinder so just connect the two using gas line. Any reason this won't work at lower pressures?

    Refill sodastream bottles

Is it absolutely necessary to turn the donor cylinder up side down? I just want the co2 in the soda stream cylinder to dispense from a 5 litre minikeg so thinking 60 psi should be more than enough. Only recently got the soda stream cylinder but hoping to refill it myself one empty

    Hop plants/rhizomes - growing report

They are doing well, my hop plants now in their 3rd year are nowhere near that stage. I had enough cones in year one for one brew, nothing last year (but they were neglected) I've been looking after them this year but they are on final warning, if I don't get a crop they are coming up (if I can...

    What company's do recipe packs?

I normally use Maltmiller but they are out of stock of the yeast I wanted at the moment so does anyone know of any other company's that you can input recipes to buy small exact amounts of grain and hops? I also know of crossmyloof but I'm after liquid yeast at the moment which they don't do, I...

To Keg or not to Keg, that is the question

Well that didn't take long, I now have an empty keg and no session IP A left, it's one I shall brew again but play around with the hops. I bet that now ones empty another won't be far behind.

To Keg or not to Keg, that is the question

As everyone said above, kegs are great, I managed without a dedicated fridge for them for a couple of years but now that I have one wouldn't go back. I now have beer in each of my kegs (6 )but need to empty one to make room for a batch in the fermenter before I go away next week, maybe taking a...

All in one brewing system buyers guide 2019

I was wondering the same thing myself, in my head it seems you would get better efficiency with a larger volume mash, maybe doing a small sparge at the end , with my current setup it's easier to do full volume mash ( easier to maintain temperature with larger volume, difficult to effectivly...

    Oxygen suckback during cold-crashing

It does, I removed it once full but now fermentation has finished it's back in place, it will be interesting to see how much it shrinks once I begin to cold crash.
