British hops in lager? Anyone experimented?

I've done a fuggles lager in the past and was pleased with how it turned out.

    Cask ale in a corny?

Just posting here so as to be kept informed of any updates. I've regularly used low pressure co2 to serve 'real ale" style kegged beers from a cornie and don't have a problem with that but I also like the idea of reducing my reliance on co2 and serving from a polypin, vinotainer or similar.

    Pint365 beer engine

@St00 be interested in how you get on with it once your all set up, and how you feel it would work for occasional use as outlined above. Does it seem a quality piece of kit likely to give a few years use? You must have way more patience than me as I would have to be serving from it the day it...

    Pint365 beer engine

www.pint365.com Anyone using one? A forum Search shows @St00 may have one? I'm after some feedback? I've always fancied a beer engine and bid for them a few times on eBay but for one reason or another they've always fallen through. The thing that's put me off in the past of going the beer...

    New from Billericay, Essex

Welcome @Burlyman , I did a brew day at Billericay brewery a few years back which was an enjoyable experience. No doubt you'll be familiar with there beers.

    May is Mild month

Kegs really are like bus's After 6 weeks on furlough where I couldn't brew much because all my kegs were full now that I'm back at work I've finished a mild last night and a Vienna lager today. No doubt my Spring beer will also finish this weekend, (my wife likes this one too). Luckily I've got...

    May is Mild month

Looks good @jjsh . As Mild may draws to a close I finished off the first batch last night and have kegged the second batch this morning which early samples suggest should be every bit as good. Loving my Mild at the moment when I fancy a few pints and not have a hangover the next morning.

    Corny keg question

I only connect up the gas when I need it. That is when the pressure gets too low to pour at a decent pace. Even when carbonating I just give it a blast of gas, then top it up later on. Works for me but I like a low level of carbonation.

    Co2 alternative?

Big spender you are, OP was looking for a cost effective solution 😄

    Natural carbonation in cornelius Keg

Thanks for the replys on this which I totally missed when originally posted. I was able to get another co2 canister delivered so did not in the end need to naturally carbonate and am now back to force carbonating.

    Making Woodfordes Wherry less strong

I've never done extract brewing so can't really advise but worth doing some research into this. I believe you could do a minimash of something like crystal malt to add more body without increasing alcohol content (there maybe other things you could minimash with that would work better)

Mmm, Belgain cornflakes, probably covered in chocolate 😁

    May is Mild month

My Mild (see above) has been going down so well that I've decided to brew the same again tomorow, except i now have English ale yeast rather than Belgain, cornflakes to replace the flaked Maize and EKG rather than Fuggles for the later hop addition. It's the first time I've brewed a lower ABV...

Tales of woe, lessons learnt and a quick question

Oh dear, it's enough to make a grown man cry. Long time since I've used a keg like that so someone else can probably be more accurate, I'm guessing about half of it gone.

How do you measure your mash temperature?

I have in the past measured my mash with 3 thermometers and found that it didn't take long to get up to 2 Deg c difference between various probes placed at different points in the mash. Give it a stir and they are back to uniform temperatures. I guess unless you have a recirculating system then...

    marshbrewers brewdays

They both look good, I'm tempted to do the light mild for my next brew, it would use up what I have left quite nicely. Hope your yeast turns out good, I've heard good things about the donor beer.

    mini kegs

If you do think you'll eventually end up with Cornelius kegs it would be worth getting a mini keg with Cornelius type fittings.

How to make a face mask

Going to have a go at making a face mask today, Don't think my current buff solution is really suitable for delivering medicines to pensioners?

    mini kegs

I've used both types, the type your avoiding, they are a good way to get started in my opinion, especially if you like low carbonated real ale styles as they are literally a mini cask, I was able to extend the life of the beer in them by just using the tap initially then once the pressure drops...
