Sainsburys are doing these new 'Larger' Kits

I let them know about the error and this was part of the response; "Thank you for your email about the spelling mistake on our updated website. I am sorry that the word "larger" has been spelt as "larger" in numerous items. I can appreciate your disappointment." Excellent! another "customer...

    Flat beer

Its worth filling one plastic bottle as well as your glass ones so you can give it a squeeze to test carbonation. some will take longer to carbonate, and its been cold recently. I've had some take several weeks in the warm.

Growing hops "oop north" in Lancashire

That's good to know for growing hops in Manchester, my front garden gets sun all day and I have a large fence to train them along.

    coopers Stout

In my opinion it didn't need anything more than the enhancer I used, which was 500g malt extract (spray malt) and 500g sugar. 1kg of malt extract would probably be better but I was on a budget at the time and enhancer is cheaper. you can always experiment with other sugars afterwards, but if...

    coopers Stout

Thin bleach is a very cheap and effective sanitizer . It takes a lot of rinsing but for a fv and other bits (all done inside the fv) its not a big deal. There is a 'how too' somewhere with dilution rates, which I can't find on my phone. Keep this one simple, brew it slightly shorter and with...

    Maybe Diseased

You could get some plastic 2L bottles from tesco full of (flat or sparkling) water for about 10-20p each, no need a santise just pour out the water and and fill up a couple of bottles if you are a bit short on glass bottles.

    Syphon tube cleaning

give it a good swing around your head once your done rinsing to dry it out, you look like a lunatic but it reduces moisture and in turn infection risk.

Four cans two brews, with some live brewery yeast

Put another best bitter on just now, really no need but I've never filled three fermenting buckets so I thought I best try! This one was 500g sugar, 500g dark malt extract and a John bull best butter kit. Top cropped loads of yeast in to the new fv. See how it goes!

10 hours later with a room temperature of 20'c the yeasties are about to make a bid for freedom, probably 5inch of foam.

Four cans two brews, with some live brewery yeast

I am unsure of the beers they brew, I have had a little sip of the water above the yeast which is very hoppy, but its an old English ale yeast from what I understand. Mixed up 2x John bull traditional ale kits and 300g sugar to 20L, of 1.062. Roughly 60ml pitched at 20'c 2x best bitter kits +...

Four cans two brews, with some live brewery yeast

I picked up some yeast from Darcey at blackjacks brewery today; So the plan is to try and get through a few of the kits i picked up very cheaply so i have an excuse to buy some decent ones, and as if i need an excuse to use a decent bit of this yeast immediately! I've picked out the above...
