    Hoppy beer 🍻

Try a month or so on different (much less hoppy) beer styles, I'm no scientist but I reckon you'll be able to pick up the hops a lot more after.

Seasonal Forum Competition - November 17

With a fruit beer you could add the fruit to the fermenter so could split the batch rather than make 5 gallons? I've never made one but I'd give it a go, I'd be especially interested if the theme was a specific fruit. Christmas pudding sounds good but, as you ialude to, it needs a good...

Home Brew Competition - September 17

Here are the original entry requirements: http://www.thehomebrewforum.co.uk/showthread.php?t=64349 They've been relaxed a little tho. @jceg316 is going to look at updating them so there should be a revised set soon.

Home Brew Competition - September 17

There certainly was, it's not a sticky anymore but I'll see if I can dig it out. It's basically 1 bottle, any size, glass or plastic is fine. There is a thread on posting bottles generally somewhere as well, I'll try and find that one as well.

Seasonal Forum Competition - November 17

In a recent thread about the forum competitions @The ***** suggested a recurring competition with a loose brief. Rather than trying to explain it myself I'll just copy what he said at the time So, with the above in mind I'd like to suggest that we spend a few weeks getting together...

Home Brew Competition - September 17

Sounds like it'd be fine. :thumb: I've for an American Amber, not sure if that fits the style or not? I'll have an American Pale to chuck in as well if it turns out ok.

    Forum Competition - New format

Yeah, both the rules and the schedule will need updating although we'll need a kind hearted mod to update the thread...either that or we get rid of the stickies that are there and start again?

    Forum Competition - New format

Hi, There has been quite a bit of discussion over the last few weeks about the format of the forum competition and how we can improve it to gain additional entries and also to provide something that works better for forum members. As such, the categories have been generalised to just...

Home Brew Competition - September 17

As discussed recently, the competition is changing a little with only 4 broad categories (American Pale Ales, Dark Beers, Freestyle and British Pales, Bitters & Milds) with an additional "seasonal" competition every three months. You can see the discussion here...

Potential Micro pub homebrew shop & nano brewery

Out of interest, how many beers would you need to sell to break even? The numbers where quite high (although do-able) when I done the numbers so would be interested to see if we're in the same ball park.

    Bus-push jogger suspect arrested

It'll be interesting to see what he gets charged with, the absolutely f**king *****.

    Klarstein Beer Dispensers

Ah so the C02 just gets it out of the keg but doesn't add fizz to the beer?

Potential Micro pub homebrew shop & nano brewery

I think it's a great idea. I've been looking in to a micro pub/beer shop for quite some time now, it wouldn't have the homebrew/brewery side to it as the place I'm looking at is quite a bit smaller. Luckily for me, there isn't a decent pub anywhere near where the empty unit is and there aren't...

    DoctorMick's Brew Days

Just tried a sample of the latest brew and it's nowhere near as hoppy as I'd have liked, you wouldn't think there were 300g of hops in there. It's very bitter as well but I'm putting that down to the hop matter as it hasn't been crashed yet.

    Forum T Shirt.

Mine arrived today as well, looks good. It looked massive before I tried it on...turns out I'm just fat.

    Klarstein Beer Dispensers

One more question...do you still need to prime the mini keg if you use one of these? I'd imagine you don't need to in order to dispense but do you need to in order to give it a protective blanket in the keg before you use it?

    Klarstein Beer Dispensers

Looks like Klarstein are having a sale on their beer dispensers: https://www.klarstein.co.uk/Home-appliances/Drinks-dispenser/Beer-tap-dispenser/ Are they worth the money? I've not really been drinking my kegs in the last few months as I can't get them cool. Also, what bungs do you...

    Smack pack not inflated

If the yeast is from March you'd need a starter anyway as the viability would be quite low. I'd imagine that'd be the reason it didn't swell.

Home Brew Competition - August 17

Yeah, it is. First change will be from September.
