Can anyone advise how you know whether your wine needs sugar prior to bottling, and how much to add? Tried brewing wine once many years ago and cocked it right up by over doing the sugar bit at the end.

Hoping to try some wine brewing after doing a few beer kits. Is there any problem just using the beer fermentation buckets for the wine? Also, I have a number of 500ml bottles left over plus caps, would that work OK with wine or is corking the bottle a 'must'?

Bought a bottle of Lagunitas daytime from Asda the other day. VERY pale in colour when I poured it but was well impressed by the taste. Will definitely give it another go.

My favourite beer - fantastic. By the way, tried Hazy Jane Brewdog the other night - it is unfiltered therefore has a pile of sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Not impressed with that one. Have gone through a fair chunk of the Brewdog range now but still hunting around for ones I have not...

Got the punk bottled last week Neil so will see what it's like shortly. I too ended up with f**k all wort after boiling so ended up topping up with water. Hope the finished product is not too weak. Would love to give the Dead Pony a go but splitting the larger kit means an awful lot of work...

The problem each time was that the beer was totally flat. Reading another thread I think the problem was that I put it in a pressure barrel instead of bottling. Maybe just too fizzy a beer to be barrelling? Scared to try the same one again to be honest, cannot be bothered wasting the time and...

Another question lads, when bottling, is there anything wrong with spooning a bit of sugar into each bottle then siphoning directly into the bottle rather than via a second bucket?
