    What are you drinking tonight.

    Porter. 10lt batch, pale malt, crystal, choc malt, a bit of oats and flake barley. Fuggles at start and end of boil. Muntons yeast from saved from previous batch (can't remember type). bit of vanilla pod pickled in brandy at end of fermentation. lush & rich!

    Repitching a Yeast Cake

    does this process work with dried yeast? I'm about to bottle a stout that I used a sachet of Gervin ale yeast. I'm planning to make another similar stout a few days later, and collecting and re-using the yeast would save a quid or so. I am very tight! cheers

    just tried a bottle of my second real ale kit. I made it with a kilo of mashed pale malt instead of the dextrose that came in the box. bit of a disappointment compared to the first one that was as per instruction. no hoppy-ness at all. bland and only 3%

    raw ale / no boil?

    1st batch was drinkable, 2nd went down the plug hole. dropped to SG 1000, I guess infected, smelled and tasted rank, it never improved.
