B&Q Crates for bottles, stackable + cheap (IMO)

For the price I can't fault them. There's a little room to possibly cram some more bottles in but I didn't fancy risking it so I just rolled up some cardboard to stop them swimming about.

B&Q Crates for bottles, stackable + cheap (IMO)

Hi all Hope this is the right place to post this. Been unsuccessful in trying to get hold of cheap bottle crates via eBay and Shpock and the like. Was randomly in a local B&Q and found these for a reasonable (so I thought) £3.75 each. No lids if that's important to anyone but stackable, well...

    Bear Grylls Thermowell

Hi all Just thought I'd share my attempt at a low cost thermowell. I can't take all the credit, found this useful video on YouTube after researching cheap thermowells all morning: I had some spare grommets from https://www.home-brew-online.com/ and used the plastic tubing from an old...

    Thanks, started that without thinking!

Inkbird probe / jiffy bag question

Probably gonna use a sponge next brew but liking the idea of a thermowell for the ones after. Does the well have to be in the beer or is having it inside the FV enough?

    Thermowell question

Hi all Looking up thermowells to fit to my FV and my inkbird. Was just wondering about the length I would need. Does the well need to sit in the beer or is just having it inside the FV enough? Would prefer mounting it to the lid rather than drillng a hole in the side of the FV Cheers

Inkbird probe / jiffy bag question

So these are just protective sleeves for probes you can fit to your FV?

Inkbird probe / jiffy bag question

Superstar, thanks for that. Knew there had to be a good reason. Can't wait to try it out with its maiden brew!

Inkbird probe / jiffy bag question

So you poke the probe into the sponge? And stick it to the FV?

    Stout & Maltodextrin powder

I like the sound of it. Could be one to break me into all grain / BIAB in the future. Many thanks :thumba:

Inkbird probe / jiffy bag question

Hi all Just a quick question as now the proud owner of a fermentation fridge and an inkbird itc-308s. I've read around and notice people using bubble wrap or jiffy bags to house the probe to the FV. Stupid question but why? And what's the best method for doing this? Cheers

    Stout & Maltodextrin powder

Yeah I'm inclined to agree. Off all the beers I've had in the past I've never got a "treacly" vibe but that could be my abused taste buds!

    Stout & Maltodextrin powder

Definitely leaning towards this over black treacle. Have saved your recipe for future reference. Will look at steeping grains and adding hops as others have suggested at a later stage (once I've been paid again!)

    Stout & Maltodextrin powder

Cheers for that. Copied and saved for future reference. Is that with a can kit or is that all grain?
