    Hello all!

Hi! Thanks for the warm welcome. Yes, I guess it was back in the early 80's, when money was tight as the proverbial, I brewed in buckets to suppliment the nightly 'pub crawl's'! I simply used cans of liquid ME from WIlko's back in the day, results were ok but would rarely compare to pub ales...

    Beer & sunlight?

Here's a question for you; why is it that beer seems to taste different when brought outside and consumed in bright sunlight? I've often wondered. Edit: To be more specific, to me it appears to enphasize certain aspects of the beer, maybe enhancing the barley or malt taste somehow, I'm sorry I...

    Hello all!

Thanks Davy, I went for a 'Klarstein Mundschenk' 30l mash/boiler and fingers crossed so far it's been an enjoyable process. The control panel is a little bit 'dated' compared to the Grainfather 'app' based setup, but I don't mind 'Old Skool' really, in many ways it focusses the mind on the...

    Hello all!

Hi Dave, thank you for the warm welcome :-). Well the beer in the pic is my homage to the great Pilsner style, which I named ‘Pale Horse’. It is my 4th brew using all grain, and my favourite so far! I can’t believe how damn good it tastes, it has a flowery aroma with just the right amount of...

In need of gas!! (Co2 that is)

Ah, thanks for that, I think I saw Adams when I was searching. Yorkshire gas do the bottles & refills with liquid Co2, which is great, but they're in Doncaster! I'll see if the local engineering firm on the BOC site can help out!

In need of gas!! (Co2 that is)

Thanks peebee. Yes I've seen the nitrogen mix, but until I brew a Guinness clone I'll stay clear! So, to recap; If I purchase say a 3Kg cylinder from a supplier, I can get it refilled/swapped locally by any local firm that supplies Co2? I'm just slightly confused by the BOC site which implies...

In need of gas!! (Co2 that is)

THanks for your reply, I should have said, I'm in Market Harborough (Leics). I've just googled it and it seems there may be a supplier locally (from the BOC website). As I'm totally new to the game do I just ask for Co2 for brewing? Are the cylinders all the same, i.e the fittings etc?

In need of gas!! (Co2 that is)

Hi all I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd kick off with a query about Co2 supplies. I have a King keg, which I use those paltry Brewgas L30/S30 canisters at c. £10 a refill for 30 shots. I'm not too impressed with the King keg (top tap) as it eats gas with little output. Firstly, I messed...

    Latest hobby - CNC router

Hi Alex The no-brainer with Fusion is that it is free to education and hobbyists, until the day you hit the £100,000 turnover, if I earned that much I'd gladly pay the £350 or so it costs a year!!!

BTW I first learned to use the Fusion 360 'Machining' Hi Clint, yes that's why I use the waterbath, there's no dust, just sludge which I carefully remove to a storage container which I will eventually mix with resin to make it 'safe' for disposal.

    Hello all!

Hi My name's Andy, and I've recently gotten back into home brewing. So far so good! It's been about 40 years since I last dabbled in earnest, and thankfully the equipment that seems to be available has come on leaps and bounds. I hope to learn much, drink plenty and have fun doing so...

    Latest hobby - CNC router

Thanks Kevin! No, it's a bog standard 3 axis, but it is possible to produce fillets & chamfers using a V bit or a ball end mill and a 3D toolpath, as oposed to a 'contour' toolpath, which is what I mainly use for my 'stuff'. Funny enough, I think these CNC routers are mainly intended for wood...

    Latest hobby - CNC router

Hi Kevin, thanks for the welcome! The machine size is 750 x 500, Practically it will machine up to a size of 430 x 350, and I have a Stepcraft waterbath fitted pretty much full time, as I cut a lot of carbon fibre. I have a watercooled 3 phase spindle which is excellent, and not really that...

    Latest hobby - CNC router

Hi! I just signed up to the forum as it has a good 'vibe' to it, and I'm just getting back into brewing after a 40 odd year break! I saw this post, funny enough I do CNC, and put together an 'Ox' machine (based on OpenBuilds) a couple of years ago. It's for my 'other' hobby; product design...
