    The M6 car park.

Yeah, we're the same, If I 'had' to visit a beach I'd pick the most desolate stretch of sand a shingle that Google earth could offer me, as I say I'm sticking to my shed!!

Best Star SAN Alternative including all new Chemsan

I saw a guy on Youtube who simply puts his bottles through the dishwasher, can't think of a simpler way myself, good old heat will do the job? I haven't tried PET bottles tho, not sure if it would dis-form them (if that's a word?)

Best Star SAN Alternative including all new Chemsan

Interesting alternative, looks more 'friendly' than Starsan. I've been using Chemsan, where do you buy yours from foxy?

Ouch! Why would ya do it? I'm sitting in me shed, beer in hand planning world domination and the art of...brewing.

    Pressure barrels

Ah, tha's better: Beer & BBQ back on tonight! Cheers all

    Pressure barrels

THanks. I knew it was fixable, as I did have it pouring perfectly at one time, then it failed in the next brew, which was frustrating, I hate taking the lid off mid brew..

    Pressure barrels

It's here: Welcome to CaskWidge - CaskWidge It's a commercial dispense system, I guess mainly used with Cornies and normal barrels. the float bit is what I was interested c £10 Edit: It's a simple idea, and has a built in filter should you wish to add non fermentables like oak chips etc and...

    Pressure barrels

So I went for a swap out with the barrel taps, I'd bought a brewgas sparkler tap last time I ordered gas, which has a nice barbed spigot pointing straight into the barrel. The silicone tube supplied with the cask widge was a nice firm fit and I'm happy to report beer is now flowing properly...

    Pressure barrels

I'll crack it one way or another, I'm not easily perturbed!
  10. craft_ales_project

    Pressure barrels

Yes, I have mine like that now too, the widge looked happier that way as opposed to upwards.

    Pressure barrels

I've just looked at the old float, and yes, it does look as though it sits below the top level, but fairly sure mine always sat at a 45 degree angle, so gas found its way somehow. I'll try beefing up the connection at the tap end!

    Pressure barrels

It came with a ping pong ball, but I think gas escapes at the swivel joint, as it's not well engineered (not engineered at all in fact). I may have been unlucky to get the duff'en. I replaced with a cask widge for c £10, same issue, but this time I'm fairly certain that @kelper hit the nail...

    Pressure barrels

Thanks Kelper, that's an interesting one, I will try what you suggest. I've only had two brews in this barrel so far. I fixed the first issue by rotating the spigot on the tap so it pointed upward (with the supplied float) and that worked. It was annoying to have to remove the lid on a...

    Pressure barrels

I love what you've done here. I have a King keg with the top tap, and to be honest have had nothing but trouble at mill with it. I know they 'must' work somehow and for some folk, as perhaps they would never sell them, but alas, not for me! My issue is not with sealing (most of the issues...

Pale Horse, a lager if you please?!

Hi! Yes, I posted it on another thread: As I say, it exceeded my expectations by degrees, seeing as there's a lot of mystery surrounding these Pilsner styles, and ideally they need to be fermented at low temps, something I'm unable to at present without a brew fridge.

    Hello all!

And it did! I almost had second thoughts and went solely for a bottling session at around 08:00 this morning, it went well, so I decided to bite the bullet and go for the brew, what the heck I had little else to do! Bottling was rounded up at around 11:00 ish, so I started the next mash which...

    Hello all!

Yes you’re right about that, but I’m back in work on Monday so have a short window to get it done, plus the builders are starting in on a build on Monday, fun & games all round. I brew in the garage so no distractions but I hear it’ll be close to 35c tomorrow, agh, nothing is straight forward...

    Beer & sunlight?

Yes, it's weird, but I get it with any beer commercial/home. One of the reasons I'd always be a pain and resist my chum's pleas to go outside! You can tell I'm a beer nerd..

Pale Horse, a lager if you please?!

Ok, so I'm using the term 'Lager' in it's literal sense, so don't throw anything at me (just yet). This was my 4th brew, the previous 3 were mainly generic 'English ale' styles, and were all drinkable enough. My first brew (Wriggley Pig) was spoilt in the main by my impatience, the beer was...

    Hello all!

Thank you! Yes, too right I am, bewildering or what? So far I've used Safale English ale yeast Mangrove Jack's Bohemian and W yeast Czech Pilsner (liquid with a 'smack pack' nutrient!). I think I'm confusing myself slightly, the Czech mate is under way and will likely be bottled tomorrow! I...
