Make co2 with a shark tank.

Slightly left field, but while you’re discussing ways of producing CO2 also consider ways of recycling it. When a keg/barrel is empty of beer it is full of CO2, sometimes under pressure. This could be used to dispense beer from another keg, directly if still pressurised, or filling the spent keg...

    Fermenter

Have you considered doing as I did and make your own? That way you get something that is exactly what you want. As for bottling and syphoning, I opted for a floating dip tube in my fermenter to transfer my beer (wine in your case). I use a corny post rather than a tap but either will work.

    I blame the parents! 😂

    Clever priming sugar required

Just checking, the point of this exercise is to transfer beer from the fermenter to two (half filled) corny kegs and carbonate and dispense said beer without using bottled CO2? If so….. my complicated approach would be… You will need a couple of gadgets (of course). A long length of beer hose...

The Chaos that is a Buffers Brewery brew day

Fermenter was empty so time for a brewday. Another try at the Tribute clone recipe. Following suggestions from forum members I increased the flame out hop addition. Also, decided to add some carapils. Today's recipe was 3.2 kg Maris otter pale malt 1 kg Munich malt 0.4 kg carapils 1 hour mash...

What do you plan to do with the 9-10 litres of air in the head space? If left over your beer while it ferments (to produce your gas pressure) is it likely to cause oxidation? Asking for a friend :confused.:

The Chaos that is a Buffers Brewery brew day

After three days of cold crash at 3C, time to transfer to one of my primed King Kegs... All went well. Transferred to my carbonation and conditioning fridge for a couple of weeks at 20C then a couple of weeks at 10C. Looks like the floating dip tube worked well with not too much beer left...

Free gas. 18 litre corny fill instead of 19?

Has the classic Best Bitter lost its flavour?

Did my beer apprenticeship in SE London c1965-1968. Frequented The Kings Arms in Eltham. Courage house. Sunday lunchtime ritual, meet grandad with dad and consume 2 pints of bitter whilst arguing about Charlton Athletic's performance the day before. Never tasted a bitter as good since. Edit...

Probably. Depends how long you're prepared to wait between pints 😂

Free gas. 18 litre corny fill instead of 19?

I think this is one of the main differences between cornys (with their gas cylinders and regulators) and pressure barrels (with their rubber band pressure relief valves and gas bulbs), while corny kegs have a “constant” pressure that can be monitored on a pressure gauge on the regulator...

Free gas. 18 litre corny fill instead of 19?

I recall a forum member (@terrym), while not being a fan of pressure barrels, advocated the addition of sugar as the barrel emptied and lost pressure. So if you could devise a gadget using a small bore syringe at one end and a gas quick connect at the other you could inject sugar solution into...

    My new (complicated) fermentation vessel

Just an update on the maiden brew with the new fermenter. Two weeks ago had a brew day and produced 5 gallons or so of wort destined to be a Cascade pale ale... No dry hop this time. Small steps .... In the brew fridge for 2 weeks at 19C. Today is sample day before cold crash for 3-4 days at...

    Dry hopping techniques

My new fermenter has a large circular dry hopper based on the same principle. The hopper is secured to the underside of the lid (sealing the screw holes with rubber washers). Trapdoors are held closed by magnets (the grey disks).. Doors closed.... The lock/release magnet housing is also...

Yes, one flap has two PTFE coated neodymium magnets fixed either side (spot the white nylon nuts and screws) that are attracted to the magnets on the top of the lid. Slide the magnets away and the trapdoors open.

Yeah. Hmmm. Well… These software tools are supposed to “help” not to be “gospel”. It’s OK to deviate from the “norm”. I’m a bit of a brewing rebel 😂

Alternatively, as you’re wort is at the gravity you want, run off the excess to get you to the pre-boil volume and gravity you were aiming for. And make note to reduce the grain bill next time as you are more efficient than you think 👍🏻 Edit: bit late. Sorry about that. As you say, it’ll still...
