The push fit connector (elbow) is to vent the bucket headspace during fermentation. I've drilled a hole in the side of my brew fridge to pass a pipe through that’s connected to the bucket at one end and a bubbler or a balloon (to collect CO2) outside the fridge.
Hi @MisterMike . I use a 3/4” BSP stainless steel nipple through the hole with a hex nut and washer on the inside and a 3/4” BSP round cap on the outside with the old tap washer to form a seal (on the outside). Note, the stainless steel cap is cast so the face needs to be filed smooth to get a...
I use a standard plastic fermentation bucket with a lid. I tape around the lid to reduce any leakage and do closed transfer to a pressure barrel 'filled' with CO2 after priming with sugar solution for carbonation. Consequently I decided to add the gelatine finings after carbonation and before...
Update. The APA I brewed a month ago has finished carbonating so I decided to give 'closed circuit' fining a go. BUT. Before I do it for real I decided to do a rehearsal with water instead of Starsan and gelatin solution. Following your suggestions and advice, this is the kit I assembled for the...
Brewed this Bohemian Pilsner last year. This (last) bottle was in my brew fridge at 10C for over a year. Vast improvement on the beer a year ago. Head like Italian meringue and very well carbonated. Oh, and tasted better than the young beer as well!
I've had a bottle of Bohemian Pilsner in my brew fridge since when I brewed it this time last year! Thought it was about time to try it..
Head is very meringue like and the lager is much better than it was last year. Time has improved this beer significantly.
Good call. I only had a push on connector in my "bits box". I would've preferred an end feed soldered connector.
Quick visit to the shed .....
...could do something like this?
Failing that just hold the copper tube with pliers or mole grips or the like 😂
Hi @RoomWithABrew . If I understand your question, you’re looking for a way to connect a large CO2 cylinder regulator output to an S30 cylinder? If that’s correct and depending on your metal working/plumbing skills I’d suggest getting a S30 barrel cap valve (connects to S30 cylinder) and remove...
Cascade pale ale is my regular brew. 4kg pale malt, 0.4kg Carapils and 0.1kg crystal. 10gm fuggles 60 minutes, 30gm cascade 30 minutes, 30gm cascade 15 minutes and 40gm cascade for 30 minutes at 80C. I prefer Verdant IPA yeast.
