    Airlock not coping in fermentation

I was surprised too. However, now I have the overflow tube snuggly fitted into the bung for the airlock, is there any reason why I should not using the system all the time, rather just when it get particularly active?

    Airlock not coping in fermentation

That is very satisfying to hear and watch! Will this be able to cope like this for any amount of CO2? As I said, I am planning on using a kveik at the weekend. New video by Mike Busby

    Airlock not coping in fermentation

I have a oatmeal stout currently fermenting and the airlock cannot cope with the amount of CO2 being produced (see below). My first question is (1) what can I do right now to stop this batch getting too messy, and (2) how can I avoid this in the future, especially as I was planning on trying a...

Stepped mash in a Robobrew (or other all in 1)

Yes, but I am doing another batch this weekend, so I will time it for you.

Stepped mash in a Robobrew (or other all in 1)

I’m surprised that your all in one would take 30 minutes to increase 10C. I’m sure my Beacon Brewster would take less than 5 minutes for that.

    Fermenting lager

Thanks. And do you think it is best to then lager in the garage in the FV, or bottle it at that stage?

    Fermenting lager

I currently have a bohemian pilsner in my Ferminator at 12C. It has been going now for 9 days. The OG was 1051 and the expected FG is 1014. It is currently at 1022. All seems good. However, I really want to free up my Ferminator for a new batch at the weekend, so am ideally looking to move the...

    Ferminator Launch at Geterbrewed

I bought this from GEB before Christmas. It does everything it says on the tin. I have brewed a weissenbier @ 22C very successfully, and am currently fermenting a bohemian lager at 12C. The unit copes very well at both.

    Yeast quantity for Bohemian Lager

    12P, which I believe is 1.048?

    Yeast quantity for Bohemian Lager

I am just about to start this brew - Bohemian Lager recipe - Speidels Braumeister. The recipe states fermenting at 12C using a single 11.5g pack of Saflager S-23 yeast. However, the yeast pack itself says the dosage is 11.5g for 10-15L at room temperature, and 2 x 11.5g for 10-15L at 11-15C. The...

    Fermentation stalling

Just for feedback, I was panicking too early. The beer got down to the correct FG, and has turned out to be a lovely beer, even after just 2 days in the bottle!

    Hefeweizen recipe

I have just realised that it was only in the bottle for 2 days! So, I fermented for 9 days and in the bottle for 2. 11 days in total between brew day and getting into my stomach.

    Hefeweizen recipe

I have just had my first bottle of a hefeweizen all grain kit from Spiedel supplied by Geterbrewed.com. You can see it here - Speidel 38Ì´å_ Wheat Beer Ingredient Box - Get Er Brewed Considering it has only been in the bottle for 4 days, it is a delicious beer. I am a big fan of hefeweizen, and...

    Ferminator

I used it for the first time for a batch of hefeweizen last week. I have just bottled it today and everything went very well. That said, the fermentation temp was 22C, so not a major test for the unit. Seems to have worked really well though. Biggest challenge is finding storage space for it in...

    Fermentation stalling

I am currently fermenting a weissbier. The OG was 1050 and the expected FG is 1012. After 2.5 days everything has slowed at it is currently at 1020. I know that this all seems perfectly normal at this stage, but I am nervous because my last brew got to 1020 and never got lower. I tried rousing...

Kveik yeast - high fermentation temperatures

I have now bitten the bullet and bought a Ferminator. First fermination is on the go and seems to be working well. As a result, I should have no problems fermenting at higher (or even, lower) temperatures. I could be ready to give kveik a go now.

    Ferminator

I don’t have the unit yet, but it is in its way. I think you are pretty accurate in terms of the cooling. I think they quote about 48 hours to get from 20C down to about 4C. However, don’t most lagers ferment at about 12C?

Kveik yeast - high fermentation temperatures

I have been reading up about the Kveik yeast and the optimum fermentation temperatures of 35-40C. I am going to struggle to achieve those temperatures in my normal fermentation bin, but I do use a Brewster Beacon 40. Is there any reason why I couldn’t chill the wort to that temperature and pitch...
