    Bottle colour

Light passing through clear bottles can cause 'skunking' of the beer. As long as they are kept in a dark place they will be fine.

    grape juice

I haven't read the thread Chippy refers to for a while, but the last place I managed to get white grape juice from, and this was a few years ago now, was Acado. Having said that, I have just remembered that there is a Polish shop not too far from me that stocks it. I haven't bought any though...

    Ruined Batch?

As the others have said, it should be fine.

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

It's turned into two Tom Caxtons and now a MJ Pink Grapefruit IPA, so far....

What are you drinking tonight 2021?

A pint or two of Tom Caxton Real Ale tonight.

    Youngs American ipa

Yeah, take it out and give it a clean and top up with more water. As it will still be active fermenting, CO2 will be pushing out through the hole in your barrel so don't worry about air getting in. Just take it out slowly to prevent any chance of anything being sucked back into your brew.

    Youngs American ipa

Don't worry, that kit can be pretty active when it gets going for a day or two. One thing I would suggest, when it has calmed down is to take the airlock out and give it a clean under a hot tap, as it can be a right pain if you wait until it has finished fermenting and half of it has dried. It...

When is a bread roll not a bread roll

It has occurred to me that this discussion is seemingly all around the round variety of said bread product. I can't think whether there is such a variance of long versions. I guess these are typically a sub, baguette or finger roll but that could be just what I cal them. Any other regional...

    First Brew

I'd agree that if you're going to batch prime, then that is one of the main reasons to transfer from one bucket to another. If you are going to prime your bottles, I'd not bother unless you are struggling with syphoning into the bottles, otherwise it means you'll have 2 buckets to clean...

    Laptop recommendations.

I know what you mean regarding USB drives and that is one of the reasons I have a NAS drive at home, but mirroring it to Google Drive means I have all of my files available to me on my phone and any PC with a browser where I can log in. It synchronises both ways so I can upload directly to...

Should you have a best before date on your beer

It's an interesting point, as I'm not sure if there is a best before date that should be considered. Having said that, a few years ago I found a bottle of Cooper's European lager in the shed which was about 18 months old and it was the best out of the batch.

    Laptop recommendations.

If you don't have already, I'd seriously look at cloud storage for your photos and stuff too. I had Amazon Drive for a few years but they have just changed some of their policies and also stopped access from Synology NAS drives (which I use to mirror between the two) so have recently opted to...

I missed that thread. I'll have a read.

When is a bread roll not a bread roll

I'm just sat on my 6th Teams call of the day and I have glazed over and started thinking of random things to keep me sane. I was just wondering what other local variant names of the humble bread roll are. Now, from my neck of the woods 'cob' is typically used for the crusty variety, and bap...

There's good news.... and bad newsss

Id need to check but I think they are the plastic labels on their bottles aren't they. From memory after I peeled the label off it was a quick minute or two with a wire scouring pad to get the glue off. +1 for Proper Job anyway, it is a favourite of mine too. As Clint said though, you could...

There's good news.... and bad newsss

You will need to pour carefully to ensure it doesn't glug the air into the bottle. I keep an eye on the beer inside the bottle as I pour as you can see the sediment making its way towards the neck as you near the end so know when to stop. Bottle choice can help too. I find that the magners...

    Best Beer Adverts.

Not a beer advert, but it is a classic I saw a few years ago.

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

I'll jump into this thread too. Tonight has been a bit of an adventure. A couple of whiskies whilst working (late), followed by a can of Soproni IPA, a MJ Pink Grapefruit IPA and then a night cap whisky for bed.
