    Verdant IPA yeast

I wouldn't use it for the Gumballhead clone - I've just done an Engish pale ale with it and while the beer's come out decent the yeast is more prominent than I'd have expected and it will mess with your flavours.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I think the way the cities (which voted Labour) are being treated could well could set things off.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I'm in the midlands, but my family are all in the north. People are getting frustrated.

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

I'd disagree with that, the only thing they really have in common is lots of hops. Brewdog's Hardcore was a great example of that style (ah Brewdog, before they went to ****...) but was clear, super bitter and resinous, not soft or tropical fruity at all.

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

That's the one, great style but getting difficult to find now.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I think things will start to kick off in the north in the next few weeks. The government are already planning for civil unrest.

    Scam phone calls

We go through periods of getting them. A week with a few then nothing for ages. I just ignore them.

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

I don't really consider oatmeal a flavouring adjunct, it's more mouthfeel for me and is just another grain in the mash so again by my arbitrary rules it's OK!

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

Ha, you've reminded me of the only exception I'll make - lactose for a milk stout! But when people start adding coconut, marshmallow, vanilla, coffee or any nonsense like that I'm not interested.

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

Yeah, he's clarified that now. Never heard the term "pastry stout" before though! Then again, I've never seen good reason to add anything to a stout so I wouldn't go looking for anything by that definition.

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

@darlacat did, just a few posts ago.

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

That's because you're not in the UK - I'd say the majority of craft IPAs you can get in the supermarkets are NEIPAs at the moment.

    Low ABV Grumpy Troll

@Hanglow to the rescue! That's a good spot, and SS is right, it looks like you're safe!!!

Anyone else fed up with NEIPA?

No, I agree. If I wanted to drink something that looked and tasted like boozy fruit juice I'd buy fruit juice and cheap vodka. Don't get me wrong, there's a a place for the style but the proliferation at the expense of variety isn't good. The "trendy" nature of craft beer is its most...

    Low ABV Grumpy Troll

In my experience Belgian yeasts can take a LONG time to fully ferment out, though I've never used M41. I don't mean to cause alarm but you do need to be careful with your bottles here. Did you use glass or plastic? How much sugar did you prime with? Were the bottles designed for higher...

    Low ABV Grumpy Troll

I'd be concerned that at 1035 it hasn't finished fermenting properly...

Which movie(s) have you watched recently?

I usually can't stand Shia Leboeuf but he was good in this.

    what suppliers do we use

Used to use Maltmiller until they took their recipe builder offline for months, as a result I moved to Geterbrewed who have largely the same stuff in stock but are considerably cheaper. Delivery takes 1-2 days longer but as long as you plan when you want to brew that's not a problem. GEB have...

Which movie(s) have you watched recently?

Just watched Peanut Butter Falcon. Very unusual buddy movie about a redneck and a young bloke with Down's syndrome on a quest to get to a wrestling school. It's great, highly recommended.

    Thornbridge Oatmeal Stout

'kin 'ell, 315g of hops in a stout? That seems like an awful lot to me. I assume the grain bill is for 23l? Everything seems to be there, it's perhaps slightly less dark than I'd aim for, and I've always gone for more oats than that but it depends on how oaty you want it to be. I usually go...
