Evening all, I'm having a crack at a Pilsner this week with WLP800. It'll be my first time making a starter. According to the WhiteLabs website I need a 2 litre starter with 1 cup of DME. Does that sound about right? How far in advance should I make it? I seen some suggest as little as 12...

Evening all, I've had this idea floating about for a while now, so I thought it pitch it and see. What do you think of having a HBF recipe book? My thinking is that members could submit their favourite recipes, be it pimped kits, partial mash AG etc that could be compiled into a pdf book...

That all seems pretty normal to me. I certainly wouldn't be worried by a 1°C rise at any stage. It give it another week then check the gravity. What kind of heater do you have in your fridge? Mine tends to fluctuate by about a degree or so as the heater/fridge kicks in. Everything will...

I've done a lot of research over the past few weeks, but when it comes to practical application I've had the best results with Strange Steve's simple water treatment thread. It's very easy and tempting to over complicate things, but (for me at least) I reckon the simple approach is best.

I thought it seemed a little high, but I may well be (and probably am) wrong. The Brewers friend calculator suggests 1010, but maybe that's optimistic. I've already added the sugar now, so I'll give it a few days and see where we're at. Cheers for the input, if it doesn't move any I'll bottle...
