Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

I have read all of your previous posts and wasn't aiming that at you just as a general message to all that we should blame the individuals not the community which you have already stated. Still can't agree that we can sink to their levels of torture but a lifelong sentence with no niceties...

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

Sorry I don't know the venue I thought it was the foyer within the ticketed area like the Newcastle arena where you have to show your ticket to get in the door.

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

I understand your exasperation at having to blame someone and dispensing justice however most of the guilty one's end up in pieces and avoid "justice" completely. This is the problem with suicide terrorists it just adds further to everyone's despair that some thing must be done but there is no...

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

You have to ask WHY are they allowing people to wander into a venue like that with a suitcase? To me from now on it seems reasonable to say to people do not bring anything other than a small hand bag and even that may be checked.

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

This guy was born in Britain, his parents were refugees. This alone does not make him a terrorist otherwise we have lost already. Thankfully there are millions of people who were born here of migrant parents or are second/third generation and are still not terrorists. We have to accept that it...

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

Can you remember when Thatcher stopped the voices of the IRA being broadcast and were voiced by actors, the whole thing descended into farce. I think hiding these things would have the effect of pretending it's not happening and more importantly would be disrespectful to the victims and their...

Out of date ingredients still usable?

Tinned stuff has a remarkable long lifetime as long as the tin integrity is not breached. When they found Captain Scott's supplies near the South Pole some of the tinned stuff was still edible years later although he didn't really have a good enough control of Temperature for brewing beer! I...

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

Just a quick check, given the title of the thread, can we at least be a little bit disrespectful and insulting to the terrorists?

    Roger Moore dies

Great is subjective , he played almost a comedy toff, Lord Brett Sinclair to Tony Curtis' New York street corner kid. he was OK but it was a bit far fetched and a bit of a contrived comedy rather than a serious drama like the professionals!

    Roger Moore dies

Other than his famous James Bond movies(not my favourites) he "died in most other things he appeared in. I remember him in Ivanhoe late 50s early 60s when he was very wooden and didn't really improve!

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

This may sound stupid BUT here goes anyway. Every time they get a 1 in 100 it's a win and every time we stop an attack it's a win so we get 99 they get 1 however that 1 matters more to us than it does to them because we value people's lives and our families' in particular I suppose it...

    Roger Moore dies

Roger Moore, He was never my favourite Bond or actor I suppose that comment will "raise a few eyebrows" in defence of his acting style! Saw him on telly last year and I reckon he had mild or moderate dementia so"a short illness" this is possibly a blessing in some way!

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

They cannot just blow people up when they want as lots of attacks are stopped and teh odd one gets through. Yes they will continue to try but they will fail more often than they succeed. They can fail 99 times and celebrate 1 victory whereas the authorities have to win every time or there is a...

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

My son lives in Paris and worked in the next street to the Charlie Hebdo attacks. When something happens I automatically think of him and confirm he is safe but realistically the chances of being in a terror attack are less than getting hit by a car and we still cross roads daily. Anywhere...

Manchester attack: 22 dead and 59 hurt in suicide bombing

They are not winning. This is attrition not a win or lose battle or war, the point of terrorism is to be a nuisance, an ever present threat and decentralised so you cannot hit back at any one place or group. Once you accept that there will be times they will have an impact such as Paris and...

    Foreign aid

Most of Africa, India and parts of the Middle East operate on bribes, nothing gets done unless you pay someone even if it's a Government service, passport etc. Given that culture it's not unexpected that when the bosses are handed free money it never really goes where it should. It really is...

    Foreign aid

I well remember TV documentaries in the 80s about queues of ships full of aid in the docks in Nigeria that could not be released until the leaders had been paid off. Most of the leaders like Zuma have accumulated enough billions to solve the problems without us but still want more!

    Foreign aid

Can you imagine 4 working class guys in Liverpool asking for a multi million pound hand out to start up a world beating band. Unlikely to be approved!

    Foreign aid

Some might say it's to assuage our colonial guilt others might say it's the ethical thing to do the Tories might say that Aid for Trade i.e more profit for the fat cats is ok by Me! Greased palms keep the trade routes open!

    Foreign aid

It's not that long ago ( january17) that we stopped the award of £5.2 million to create the Ethiopian Spice girls, following their previous award of £4million in aid. Why do we still feel guilty about Africa enough to give them billions of pounds to squander and then make us...
