    Covid-19 the second wave.

Natural herd immunity I think is now in the bin, with vaccine it can be achieved for a short time and people who get a vaccine could be recorded, so you know when it start to wane so you can get a booster shot. So basically multiple and regular vaccination - it is doable

    Covid-19 the second wave.

With the herd immunity and the whole idea of it, it is more question of morality and ethics not a political side. Lots more would die, lots would suffer long term (long Covid), lots people would be in hospitals - unless you decide not to threat them. what is the upside? It might work - not good...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Not sure when you guys say scientists are divided you man that letter that allegedly 4k scientists have signed. They advocated to shield elderly and leave younger just catch it. First problem, lots of what seem to be healthy people catch it has something long covid, for month feeling weak and...

    Scam phone calls

I noticed if I buy anything through comparison websites, those calls increase. Now I just type my landline number and set a voicemail message , as by default we don't pick up land line calls. All our friends and family call our mobiles or use emails

    Packaging and delivery...

I have to admit, I love resealable hops pouches. If I have bigger order, especially grain I always go with them. From ordering to delivery 4-5 days - not the fastest, but I'm almost never in the hurry.

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Agree with Ankou, but lets stay away from political, as much as hard it is to do. Not sure what would be the best next step. East Sussex very low numbers, but do we just wait till it all get higher? From other side, if we start closing things down, how people will be able to support themselves...

    Mangrove Jacks Brewers Series Pilsner

Brewed above, exact name is new Zealand Pilsner. About a year ago done Mangrove Jacks Czech Pils Craft Series. What a huge difference between those two. And I don't mean taste - the quality of craft series is so much higher - it tasted like a properly brewed beer. The New Zealand pilsner is just...

Best app to use with iSpindel

I use BrewFather, but it either reads data wrong or sale person on ebay has not calibrated it at all. It is stuck on 1.004 gravity since day of fermentation - to be honest I'm to lazy to check what is current gravity after 5 days. I guess I will have to calibrate it my self with lots of sugar...

Brewzilla thread to share knowledge, experiences and good practice

My Brewzilla is around 1 year old now. As said before 20L for mash and around 10L for sparge works quite well for 21L in fermenter - brewfather profile is quite good - so far I'm always very near OG in recipe - up to 1-2 points difference. Kegland bundled Hop spider - I would say the mesh has to...

    Freemasonry

Sorry for my ignorance, as I wasn't born here and we didn't have freemasons in Poland (at least I'm not aware) - what is Freemason organization? Do they have a goal to achieve, or is it something like a working man club?

    In praise of wheat beer

Last year I did 2 batches with wyeast 3068 and it was very good, very vivid fermentation and you could smell banana after few days. This year I have replaced this yeast with Fermentis WB-06 - after fermentation finished I tried a bit and I was disappointed with no banana flavour. But it...

You're stuck in quarantine with only one beer

Very local beer, but so good, Harvey's Old Ale

    Corny kegging (beginner)

Beer carbonates faster when cooled (I keep mine at around 4 degrees), but it will still carbonate if warmer. You don't have to put co2 in the fridge,

    Covid-19 the second wave.

Tell me about it, first year I worked in school I have colds almost every 3 weeks, barely came out of one to get another. Long time ago. Now we do what we can, but there are some holes is the guidance. For example teacher stay in a classroom with 30 kids for the lesson - no one is wearing the...

    Covid-19 the second wave.

I'm not sure if testing has increased in the last week or 2. There possibility that with more cases there will be more and more people getting ill and hospital admissions will go up again, in time. I think what we have seen in lockdown, number of cases didn't show true number of people infected...

How many units per week. [POLL]

At the start of the lock down with Mrs we drunk everyday, just a pint each. But after few weeks, we put stop to that and drunk only every other day, still just one pint. Before lock down I used to drink maybe pint on Friday and another on Sat, sometimes pint mid week. And now I'm more less back...

    British app for home brewing

Moved from brewer friend to BrewFather as it is more oriented to European use, mainly units. One for me was grain colour, Lovibond to EBC. And it let you keep good track of your inventory. I think it is really good for novice brewer, but after sometime you can stop relying on it

    Brewfather

Started with free but moved to premium. I think it is well worth it $1.99 per month or $19.99 per year (I've paid annually)

    Brewfather

I moved from Brewers Friend to Brewfather - much happier. I noticed problem with EBC but you can always update it in your inventory - I guess this can differ between grain batches. Been brewing on this for at least 6 months and it is very accurate on OG - very often I'm spot on. And it has a...

    Thoughts on Brewing Courses?

Another option you might consider. Check your local small brewery - some offer paid day with the brewer - full brewday - where you learn how it all happens. Some breweries might be interested doing this as one off - I did it like that. I knew the brewer, so it helped massively. I offered I will...
