    Failed bottle priming

I had the same about six weeks ago, now the bottles have perfect carb. I'd leave it alone - bet they'll carb up. Are they stashed somewhere warmish?

    Back-hopping

Circling back here to say the hop tea worked a treat. I added some brown sugar to it too so the barrel would reprime. Now enjoying a great, well balanced pint. I'm guessing it will carry on improving from here on too. Thanks again for the tips. acheers.

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

Youngs American IPA. Hoppy and powerful pint. In hindsight, I reckon this would be better bottled than in my PB. Hefty carbonation means its a bit too lively for the barrel, and the head is really bitter. Nonetheless, still an awesome pint.

The beer, wine and cider snack thread.

If only we still had Anthony Bourdain. Now he REALLY knew his beer snacks.😢

The beer, wine and cider snack thread.

Loving this thread! Was glued to it last night...ended up dropping my phone on my face reading through... 😴 This is a noble and scholarly subject that deserves more time than I have but, for now, let me say this:

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

That'll be beautiful! 😍 I shortbrewed mine to 15ltrs without any additional sugar, so it's nicely concentrated but not overly alcoholic. Funny process...it fermented out in four days flat, so I bottled it and then panicked that it had stalled and would blow out the bottles when the priming...

    Victoria Plum Wine

I keep looking at my eight 1 x ltr bottles and wondering whether to try one. They've almost cleared now, and are about 3mths old. I'm thinking the anticipation is probably more pleasurable than the end product will be! Will report back when the time comes...

What kit beer are you drinking tonight?

This kit just arrived today, a few days late, from Beer Mart. Maybe they still have stock? Elsewhere, I'm into my second pint of short-brewed Mangrove Jacks Raspberry Berliner Weiss. This is also delicious. Sour, refreshing and easy quaffing about 3.8%. Nice with ice.

Brilliant - thanks chaps. Fingers crossed this sorts it. Will check back in a week or so!

    Back-hopping

Wotcha. I just made a festival suffolk dark kit and, having read here and elsewhere that the supplied batch of fuggles hops over does the bitterness, I opted to add half the supplied amount closer to barreling than instructed by the kit. After 5 weeks in the PB the result is, you guessed it, not...

Is two bottles of wine night every other day too much?

That is MAD. No wonder they're late for everything and asleep half the day!

Worst mistakes & Feck ups (Merged)

Y'know how you have to be extra careful with the PB tap when drawing off the first few pints (to avoid a massive gush of face, clothes and garage-covering foam)? Well, this week I absolutely did not turn the tap off in the wrong direction after painstakingly pouring a virgin pint.

Advice needed for first pressure barrel secondary fermentation

Most styles work well in a PB. Had success with pales, porters, stouts and best bitters...Just be prepared to wait a bit longer for them to clear and condition. Worth it, though - I'd much rather have a pint of ale from a PB than a bottle. Better head, pub-like carbonation and a whole pint! None...

    newbie from Derbyshire...

Welcome. I'm a Derby lad in't Yorkshire. While I love all the Yorkshire ales I do miss a good pint of draught Bass (particularly from the Brunswick Inn) every now and then.

Is two bottles of wine night every other day too much?

Your call, of course, but since you asked...for me, that is too much. I'm not a medic, but surely this intake level must means your body is basically spending all of the time processing alcohol (either getting drunk or recovering from being drunk). It never gets a chance to recalibrate/purge so...
