    iSpindel temperature accuracy / lag

Just about to start my first brew using @gingerneil's most excellent iSpindel, when a question or two occurred. How accurate is the iSpindel's temperature sensor, given that it is well thermally insulated from the wort by the air inside the tube? I can understand that over a longer time period...

I can't resist a bargain, although having satisfied my desires and time being in short supply, I think I have bought my last (until the next bargain)!

Fermenting fridge - is this OK?

I gained an Inkbird among a load of brewing gear I bought when just setting up again. I have pretty limited space at the moment, and the Inkbird has made everything so much more practical. I think I would go for the wi-fi version if I was to buy one new - wife is fed up with me walking in front...

    iSpindels

Mine arrived yesterday. I've not put it to good use yet, but hope to calibrate and start a new brew over the next few days. Excellent service from Neil - a very neat and professional job.

    Hopefull brewer

Jim It's quite amazing what memories a long forgotten smell can evoke. I shall never forget the unique smell of the Guinness brewery in Dublin when I visited aged 11, when I should have been far too young to appreciate this brewing business. Maybe that's what got me started! Cheers Chris

    Hopefull brewer

Welcome Jim I've just started my first brew in 30+ years, so I'm by no means en expert, and can't provide a remotely technical response. However, I would say give it a go! There's every chance it will rekindle long lost aromas and happy memories, which are things you can't quantify. It would...

    Born again brewer

Hi Wherryp Amazing how something like brewing, in essence so simple, can move on so quickly with a bit of tech. Unfortunately I'm a bit limited for space now, so just have the one brew fridge which will be pretty much going full time. Early days for me this second time round, but I can already...

Excellent - rather more in keeping with my budget. Doesn't seem to be selling any at the moment, but looks like others are, albeit more expensive. Thanks, St00

Wow! That would be really useful. With the integrated thermometer, it should be straightforward to calculate an offset for the InkBird if required. You did warn me it would be a black hole - I wonder if Santa wold be so generous! Forgot to mention that I spent the majority of my working life in...

It's not so much the worry, more the fascination of watching the thing do its stuff. This is still a new toy! What would be really useful though, would be a wifi hydrometer - does such a beastie exist?

I can imagine. Unfortunately for me it means a physical check, which involves walking in front of whatever tripe she happens to be watching on the TV. And bearing in mind I'm currently like a kid with a new watch.......;)

Yay! Welcome! Nice to have some company in the same boat. Although I have only just dipped my toe back into the water, just a couple of tips before you part with hard earned cash. 1. Try to get the Essentials CUL55W19 fridge. I was originally going to get the 50cm wide version, but it would...

Yeah - I wasn't even aware of Ink Bird before, but it's made everything I wanted to do possible. Must admit, I felt a bit for the guy selling it.

Boots was always good value, and catered for beginner through to advanced. I lived in Canterbury at the time - home brew was particularly popular with students, so Boots paid attention to maintaining good stock levels. Quite happy to have it delivered to home new - especially in the current...
