    Buying on Ali Express

My goto store, sure it can take weeks on delivery but I buy elsewhere if urgent. My most expensive items, Hantek 100mhz Oscilloscope, Xiaomi Redmi phone. I use mainly for electronic components, all made in China so the best prices too. As for VAT, never heard of it. (nor import surcharges)

King Keg not holding pressure but no apparent leak

No, the non return valve is the rubber on the S30 valve on top of the lid. The pin piercing part is just that, no valve there.

What's your view on Plastic Pressure Barrels (PBs)?

I have posted this before, put your barrel on a round tray, pull a cotton t-shirt over the barrel feeding tap through arm hole :) Saturate with water till tray is full, t-shirt will wick up the water to stay wet. This will drop the keg temperature by ~ 2C, quite a difference. Add a fan , I have...

What's your view on Plastic Pressure Barrels (PBs)?

I started brewing again back in March with the King Keg. First brew had too much foam in the beer, traced to the beer line O-ring twisted inside the tap. Read of others with similar trouble with foam and added about 3 of tube to the beer line, line length left at that though problem was the...

Plastic beer kegs safe working pressures

Having sorted all my leaks out. ( a must!). My last brew in King keg used one 8gm and one 12gm of Co2 for the 5 gallons. That was first time I had used the 12gm bulb, better bang per buck.

    King Keg cooler

I have just suffered the pain of having warm beer. After much time and effort, simple effective solution. Place KingKeg on a large circular tray. Find an old cotton T-shirt, presoak and fit over the keg, drape into tray at bottom, the tap conveniently goes through the arm hole :) Fill...

    What did you brew today?

After a long gap, started brewing on 18 March, not a lover of bottled/canned beer. First brew was a Ritchies Simply Yorkshire Bitter. Second just the Simply Bitter as stock issues. All turned out really amazingly good. Started brew#3 yesterday, upped the volts SG 1049 :)

    Buffers Brewery Pressure Barrel “Bung”

I must be really lucky not to have had any gas leaks from the neck seal. Have had them from the tap seal, the beer line to the tap (o-ring) and the schrader valve.. I am terrified to try that in case it`s bad news !

King Keg, now the Schrader leaks, so fitted a Strain Gauge.

It is as simple as can be, a strain gauge with op amps integrated on one pcb from Aliexpress . Single sensor in a wheatstone bridge circuit. Just super glued the strain gauge on the radial of the keg cap for maximum change in voltage out. The whole thing mounted on an aluminium plate and the...

King Keg, now the Schrader leaks, so fitted a Strain Gauge.

Saga of my leaking valve over, fitted new schrader core today, no leaks and can read pressure again on the gauge. Liking the strain gauge solution though, just got to beautify it now .

Brilliant job on the cap, neat engineering. thumb

That is a seriously good looking piece of engineering mastery ! Did you work on the rigs ? Looks Mil grade to me :)

Its ok , found your original post on this..

King Keg, now the Schrader leaks, so fitted a Strain Gauge.

Yes had used a tyre inflator on it to test for other leaks ! I have ordered some replacement valve cores and the tool to tighten, that may well fix for now. What worries me is the valve likely to jam again when co2 goes through, as it freezes. On a positive note I can read keg pressure on...

King Keg, now the Schrader leaks, so fitted a Strain Gauge.

First time use of the schrader today, a 12gm bulb, and bicycle inflator adaptor, as soon as the gas went in, the schrader valve failed to seal and leaked most of gas before I could get the cap back on the valve. Obviously now need a new valve core, or is ice going to be an inherent problem on...

S30 Brewgas to Schrader valve adapter anybody

Affirmative, you are ahead of me in having the Brewgas cylinders. That should be one of my future moves too.

S30 Brewgas to Schrader valve adapter anybody

Feel your pain on the knicker elastic relief valve, it is unreliable to say the least. My one was "blowing off " at around 3.5 psi on test.. I finished up putting three silicon hair bands the ladies use, you know the little coloured ones! double wrapped over it. . . That cured the problem now...

    King Keg tap mod.

First brew with the keg a success, but noticed a slight gas leak around tap seal. Funnily enough from way back in the day with the BeerSphere, (1970`s ) I had a similar problem. The tap seal tends to splay out under torque, especially if silicon grease has been lightly applied. Apply gas...
