    Brew Diary Software

I use Evernote to store my brew notes. In fact I use Evernote for most things. It's free and stores all your notes on their servers and syncs to you tablet and smart phone should you have one. So the wife can never 'tidy' away your precious notes :)

Coopers Australian Lager - Yeast options

Thanks for tips, I guess it ends up cheaper doing that. So not only will I have beer on the go, but I will have to start cultivating yeast too :P I will become popular in my household.

Coopers Australian Lager - Yeast options

Not sure I have ever had a Kölsch  Sounds good though, was just looking at the liquid yeasts and they are expensive compared to dry. The yeast would cost nearly as much as the kit! Think I will give it a go though, fancy doing some experimenting.

Coopers Australian Lager - Yeast options

Hi, Just ordered a Coopers Australian Lager, Tesco have them back in stock at the reduced price still. Not done this kit before but have done a few other Coopers and thinking of making a couple of tweaks. I don't like the yeast that comes with Coopers kits, I have found it too loose and find...

    One off tasting bottle

Thats kind of what was going through my mind. As far as I am aware I treated all the same, fill will a small amount of sanitiser (chlorine based), shake a few times, leave for 10 mins or so and rinse 3 times. Maybe I just missed one.. Oh well, you live and learn

    One off tasting bottle

Hi, I experienced something strange tonight.. I have been happily drinking my Wherry which has been conditioning for about 4 weeks. It was improving every time I tried one. So much so that I have got through about 30 bottles already  So, I had one tonight expecting yet further...

I will leave them to get on with their feast whilst sampling the results of those that came before them :drink: in the form of a very tasty Wherry.

    Yeast cake appearing very quickly

Hi, I just set off a Coopers Australian Pale Ale with 1KG beer kit enhancer, it has been in the FV about 2 hours and there is already a 2-3cm yeast cake! Is this normal? I have never seen this happen so quickly before. I gave it a very good stir so should have been all mixed in. Now I am...

    co2 probs

Hi, There was some website in Germany that someone ordered the adapter from http://www.us-aquaristikshop.com/co2-ad ... x1/14.html There was some new company in the uk that was making something similar which looked more liked a machined piece of metal you would do in your local college metal...

    co2 probs

I have seen some people have purchased an adapter for the midget widget system so you can fit the new style soda stream bottles. Might work out a bit cheaper. Only reason I know was I was researching it when deciding if I should get some cornies. Out of interest, how long did one of the those...

    Space saving tips (Stacking FVs)

Maybe bottling earlier will help to build up supplies. I always thought it was best to leave in the primary beyond fermentation as the yeast cleaned up some of the nasties.. Admittedly I never quite understood this as the yeast is still present in the bottles so surely it cleans up in there.

    Space saving tips (Stacking FVs)

Interesting idea :thumb:, not really seen any bigger than 25L. Going to have to do some searching.. I guess you can kind of use anything. Garden style water butt would hold a fair amount :)

    Space saving tips (Stacking FVs)

Bit of a strange question, with 1 FV I am struggling to keep up with supply and demand. The obvious solution would be to buy another FV. Problem is I am stuck for space and if another FV appears in the kitchen I will have some explaining to do. So I was wondering if anyone had tried stacking 1...

    Dispensing from 2L PET bottles

Thanks, yeah I have a pilsner in the FV right now. Interested to see how that one comes out in comparison as it has a true lager yeast. I am still new to all this, so have lots to learn. Patience being the hardest :)

    Dispensing from 2L PET bottles

It maybe wasn't quite as chilled as it should have been. It was bottled just over 3 weeks ago and is the Coopers Canadian Blonde. oh, yeah our water does taste quite chlorinated. I keep forgetting to put a campden tablet in my brew As a comparison I just tried another one out of a 500ml bottle...

    Dispensing from 2L PET bottles

ok, so yesterday I tried to pour 2L into a jug. Don't think I could have made a bigger mess of it if I tried. It being very fizzy ended up with a jug full of head, and quickly running out of space in the jug. Then in a panic I am trying to grab anything I can get hold so I can continuously pour...
