Neighbour's ornamental hops growing over the fence into my garden

Hi all, Has anyone had any experience brewing a green hop beer with ornamental hops? I was planning on brewing an IPA in the next few weeks, but then I was out back in the garden and noticed the hop vine from the neighbours growing into my garden with some very tasty looking hops. My wife...

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

Just popped-open the first bottle of a Wee Heavy I made last month. Tastes nice now, but am planning on aging most of the bottles until late autumn. I used Golden Promise for the base malt and a bit of Roasted Barley. 8.5% ABV and mashed on the high-side with a FG of 1.025

SG White wine ABV Too Low

From the wine kits I've done it sounds like the yeast have finished with the sugar. With a gavity of 0.992, the bubbling is likely de-gassing. The only way to be sure the gravity is stable is to take another gravity measurment a few days after. Using the gravities you listed, you should be...

    What did you brew today?

I've been super busy and my brewing has slowed down, so I made some Mead since it's easy. I started it fermenting on 18 May, and bottled it today (7 August). I tried to make this batch as cheap as possible and flavoured it as cheap as possible. It's actually not bad, albeit on the sweet...

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

I binned the 40-pages or so of legal documents I received as I was considered a creditor due to a partial fulfilled order. It wouldn't surprise me if Young's was a creditor of Brew UK and settled by getting their branding - I'd look it up in the documents, but they are in recycling heaven. As...

    What did you brew today?

I made Mead today. This is the fourth time and the other batches turned-out well, so I'm trying an experiment. I bought the cheapest honey possible. 75p for 340g at Tesco. Bought 12. Made in China, so you know it's quality stuff and the bees were well treated. Was going to make 10 litres...

    Brewuk website "down for maintenance"

Just got the "Notice of proposed creditors voluntary liquidation" for Brew UK in the post. Turns out, since they owe me a 1 kg bag of malt, I'm a creditor. Considering the lawyers are taking the time and trouble to follow-up on such small amounts, I'm guessing they're not being paid with...

    What did you brew today?

Brewed a Dark Mild with some leftovers as I had to adjust my recipe since Brew UK still owes me 1kg of Mild Malt. Mashed at 68°C for 50 minutes. 3.0 kg Warminster Mild Malt 0.5 kg Warminster Crystal Malt 0.4 kg Crisp Best Ale Malt 0.2 kg Crisp Dextrin Malt 0.2 kg Warminster Chocolate 50g of...

What are you drinking tonight 2023.

I almost want to make a sign of the cross when someone says "Greg Hughes Recipe" these days even though he's alive and well. Miss the brew shop when he was running it.

    Pot Size.for BIAB

I do fine with a 56 litre kettle making anywhere from 18 to 26 litres of wort per BIAB brew. If I'm making a really big beer, the kettle is nearly filled to the rim.

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Colorado has some great breweries. I've travelled there a lot for business in the past. When I've driven through Golden with co-workers, I generally get a good gasp when I tell them the story I know of why Clear Creek (where Coors got its water) is so clear. I was told the story of gold...

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

HB Cream Ale. 4.5kg Low Colour Maris Otter and 1.0kg Flaked Maize. 5.5% ABV. When I tapped the keg I was worried it had chill haze, but another week of lagering made it crystal clear (about two weeks in total). First time making this, and will make it again.
