    Adding fruit to beer kits

I've done a mango IPA. I used fresh mango rather than frozen. Peeled and heated for about 15 mins, cooled and froze before defrosting and adding to the beer once gravity was down to about 1.020. If anything I didn't add enough mango. Only used about 600g for 23 litres. Next time I'll triple...

    Bikes and big balls.

The second bike will have better suspension as he's making bigger jumps. typically 100mm travel on the front shocks for the first bike, but can be anything between 120-170 for the second. Also the second bike will be setup differently in order to suit the terrain and jumps he is doing.

Apart from the first 1 minute 20 seconds, a great video

    Beer Crates

Does anyone have any beer Crates they want rid of? Or any suggestions on where I can source some? Preferably plastic crates wide enough to hold a hobgoblin sized bottle. Anywhere between Birmingham and Milton Keynes would be perfect. Cheers

    Youngs American IPA

Thanks. It's a fairly new set up only done 7 brews, plus other than take lid off to add hops and choc, no noticeable chance of damage. I have just taken a gravity check and it's actually on 1.011. Should see a little more movememt over the week. I brewed this a little longer so had a starting...

    Youngs American IPA

Cheers. I've checked it and everything seems very secure. Pressing on the lid I can see the airlock react. Most likely nearing the end of fermentation. I'll leave it till next Friday anyway before bottling.

    Youngs American IPA

Chocolate IPA anyone? Im brewing this kit right now. Have just added the dry hops after 7 days of fermentation. Gravity was down to 1.012 and still bubbling away. The hops are really intense! I also added 20g of cacao nibs which i ground up in my pestle & mortar and added a couple...

    Youngs American IPA

Yours You're doing well for your first brew. I cofirm everything others have said, 2 weeks carbonation two weeks conditioning. Although I find with IPAs they tend to clear a lot faster than darker ales porters and stouts. I recommend Mangrove Jack's kits. Again very easy and have always cleared...

Things I've seen when riding my bike

Driving home today as I passed someone on the motorway, they were watching a film on their phone. The phone, although technically being hands free, was stuck on the windscreen to the right of the steering wheel!

Oatmeal Chocolate Milk Stout (Brann's Breakfast Stout)

Thanks, but I'm still only on kit brewing, so Im really talking about enhancing what's already in the kit. If I was using a 23l kit, at what point would I add the 300g of lactose? would I treat it in the same way as if I was dry hopping?

Oatmeal Chocolate Milk Stout (Brann's Breakfast Stout)

I'm still kit brewing but enhancing. My next brew for Christmas I was thinking on a milk stout. Maybe also adding coffee and cacao. How much lactose would you recommend I add to a 23l kit? Also what's the best method of when to add? Will probably use the mocha porter kit by Young's, or maybe...

New car sales plunge 20% in September

Beer post? Anyway, I bought a new car in Aug. 3 years old as like you, what's the point in losing grands. They can't expect continued growth year in year, eventually we reach "Maximum Stuff". Plus I now have two cars. One for pleasure, the other for computing. Both diesel. I'd go for electric...

    Best ipa kit

I really like the Mangrove Jacks Grapefruit IPA. Apart from having to buy additional brewing sugar, its a very easy kit which I find works perfect for the 2/2/2 process. ferments out fast and after two weeks of carbonation is more or less clear. I know it has claims at being like Brewdog's Elvis...

    1st brew attempt question

Your beer will be fine. Using a muslin bag just means you have less sediment so ultimately a clearer beer. Conversely, people say you get less hop aroma/flavour. I haven't noticed a flavour difference.

    1st brew attempt question

Plan ahead. Think that your next reward is gonna take at least 6 weeks from starting to drinking. Once this one is done I'd start your next one, based on how fast you think you'll get through these. I have a porter (20 pints) & an IPA (17 ) I'm drinking now with some mixed berry cider...

    1st brew attempt question

Ignore the instructions timeline. I always go with two weeks in the fermenter, adding hops when gravity at 22-24. I hope in a muslin bag.
