Wilko Dark Velvet Stout pimping up suggestions

I bought this three weeks ago and "pimped it up". I added 500g light spray malt and 500g glucose when mixing. Brewed a little short to get the OG to about 40. I want it to be about 4%abv. It bubbled well for a week and was done feferferme (22c). Left another week then diluted 200g of lactose...

    Youngs American IPA

I use a hop bag . I cant say I notice any lost hoppiness. The main thing is you get a clearer beer. Although my latest beer I added the hops straight in, but I'm expecting this one to be hazey.

    Youngs American IPA

Sounds like you're good to go. That's nearly three weeks. So as long as it's stable, rack to another vessel for bottling ,( if you have one) Then bottle.

    Kit Brewers.

As others have said, kits have their place and as a novice learning the game, it's the cheapest, easiest and safest way to learn. I'm using premium kits and they do me fine as I'm making little tweaks to each one, such as adding cscac nibs a Young's modha porter, mango to an IPA kits. This...

Lose Weight - DRINK MORE BEER

I love that we can expand into other areas in this forum. Google Dr Tim Noakes. He literally wrote the book on sports nutrition, but later debunked his own research. He will change your mind about sports nutrition, carbs and dieting.

Lose Weight - DRINK MORE BEER

Great response. Thanks Just a couple things I disagree with. 1) I like milk in my tea and coffee, so I have milk. You're only talking about 10-20 calories per cup anyway. 2) Carbs are ok, as are fats and other "bad foods" as long as you maintain the calories. I'm glad you're doing something...

Lose Weight - DRINK MORE BEER

Don't hate, motivate I don't eat a diet of cake burgers and beers. That would be ridiculous. I have a healthy balanced diet, I live a very active lifestyle, which means that if I want to eat burgers cakes & drink beer, my diet allows it. It's also known as " if it fits your macros" You can...

Lose Weight - DRINK MORE BEER

Yes at the moment I'm still in my fat burn. There will be a date when I reach my desired 10-12% bodyfat goal, then it's about being calorie neutral. So ensuring I have a balance of calories in calircal out. The key thing is consume less calories than You expend, you will lose weight!

Could be leaks in the bottles? That's why I always go with glass.

What Covrich said! Leave your sediment in the first FV.

Lose Weight - DRINK MORE BEER

I do intermittent fasting where I eat one or mostly two meals a day. The key thing is calorie deficit. If you want to lose weight, make sure you consume less than you burn. Thinking about where your calories come from is also important. I'm not fat or overweight, but I'm very active. I do it...

    Youngs American IPA

I'm back with the Chocolate IPA. Just noticed a typo above. I actually added 200g of cacao nibs which I ground up in a pestle and mortar and added about 50g of cocoa powder. I added this direct to the FV once the gravity had reached 1.011, along with a hop bag. This is a pic after 2 weeks...

    Youngs American IPA

Add the hops .No need to stir them. Try to avoid opening the lid if you don't need to, I know it's tempting. I always leave mine two weeks then bottle. Most comments on here are siggsugges longer. I'd check the gravity again after 2 days, then again 2 days later .If it hasn't budged, it's done...

    Have I messed up?

I love the Young's kits. Very easy and I've always bottled after two weeks in the fv. I batch prime then bottle and leave inside for 2 weeks. I make sure I keep a constant 20-21 degrees and it's tyicallty done after the first week. Ive just put 44 bottles of this into the shed to condition and...
