Pub closures: What is the social cost to young people?

If all the pubs had free wifi the youngsters could text each other across the bar tables!!!!! Much better than sitting at the bar talking about politics or even the B word. Hmmmmm.

    Hole cutting advice

True, fibre would work but not easy to sanitize.

Where can I buy a can or bottle of Cwtch?

There's a wine shop/bar in Birkdale (Southport) that sells it in cans. They sometimes have it on tap, they had Tiny Rebel Cal there a few weeks ago. I have made a clone of the Cwtch which came out not too bad.

    Bday.

    We can but hope.

    Bday.

Me to. Such a disappointment when I read what it was really about. And I'm sure Boris is as daft as he looks.

    How old

Like a lot of others on here I was making Tom Caxton's in the early 70's. I would put it on a shelf and leave it there, it won't have improved with age, it wasn't even good in the 70's

    Sanitiser

Beware of leaving your Starsan bottle near a sunny window. I lost more than half a bottle due to it getting hot and leaking past the cap.

    The next PM.

If the potato gets in I'll be voting Tory for the first time in my life. Perhaps not.

    Fermentation bucket

I've got both the SS Brewtech brew bucket and the SS Brewtech Chronical. If you can afford the Chronical I'd go for that, easy to clean and you can do pressure transfers. The brew bucket is fine but the racking arm has a tendency to leak slightly sometimes and the O rings that interface with the...

    Fridge recommendations

I would avoid drilling through the side of the fridge. I think the best option is to run wiring through the drain hole, this may require you to drill the hole out slightly larger to accommodate wiring. Any silicone sealant will do the job.

    Fermentation fridge fans?

I'm sure setting the fridge to 50% makes no difference. The cooling coils themselves don't supply variable degrees of heat.

    Councils running out of money.

Two small windows. They should have stuck with the big drop down windows that were adjusted with a leather strap. Much better for sticking your head out of. Dutto and some others will remember these.

Help me with kegs - convince me

Hey Harbey, I think you're overthinking things, work on trial and error and you'll soon get there. Brewing isn't meant to be a chore (apart from bottling that is). In my mind there are loads of completely workable variables, the one important thing to follow though is cleanliness. Any bad brews...

    Fermentation fridge fans?

The fans will be such low consumption leaving them running will cost virtually nothing. I wouldn’t over think this too much.

Help me with kegs - convince me

When you’re pulling beer you need to have the CO2 turned on and set to serving pressure, around 5psi should do. I’ve got no leaks on the hoses so I tend to leave it turned on all the time. Check for leaks on all joints/connections with soapy water.

    Inline filter?

Hi Braindead I've been toying with buying a Hop Rocket, would you recommend it?

    What are you drinking tonight.

We live just outside Southport. We tend to go there every couple of months, always take the dog. We were there on one of the days that they were filming the Trip. Are you nearby yourself?
