Pandemic deliveries just not cutting it.

I sometimes think writing "FRAGILE" on a package is just an invitation to some of these carriers.

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

It's mellowed already. After three weeks in the bottle it was not enjoyable to drink. It's a lot better now. Just wish it hadn't overshadowed the grain flavor.

What are you drinking tonight 2020.

February's cream Ale. Amarillo kind of dominates the flavor. I'll use less next time.

    Craft Beer & Brewing magazine

I liked the recipes and the brewing science stories. Some of the brewery stories were interesting. Fifteen pages of beer reviews, beers I'll probably never drink, didn't interest me. All the equipment ads were wasted on me. I gave my last four unopened issues to a brewing acquaintance. It's put...

Cost of brewing equipment and ingredients in the UK

Aussie's get some great deals on Coopers kits from what I've read and asked about on the Aussie homebrew forum. Here in the states a Real Ale kit costs me about 22 USD. That's 33 Australian dollars. They pay about 17 AUD for the same kit which is about 11 USD. I end up paying about 8 USD...

    Clearing cider

You mean a muslin cloth, not Muslim. Honestly, if you bottle it everything will settle out of it in time. In homebrewing PATIENCE is the hardest job but also the most effective. You need a very fine filter to capture yeast. Filtering to that level has to be done in stages to capture finer...

Prospective first recipe 1 gal (US)

Go for it. Looks like a simple yet tasty recipe. Small first all grain batch is less intimidating and less of a loss if something goes bad (it won't).

    Uncrushed Grain

Some homebrew shops do a pretty poor crush. I guess they figure your efficiency is going to suck so next time you'll order more grain. Having your own mill you can crush to what works best for you. Congratulations!

    Uncrushed Grain

The "Corona" style grain mills are pretty good and inexpensive. Not as fast as a roller mill but fast enough. I'd just go ahead and get one. After the time it takes to crush what you have improvising you'll wish you bought the mill.

    Clearing cider

Bentonite. It'll be crystal clear overnight.

    You have been assimilated.

    Shouldi stir?

You used some barley with the mash, correct? You need the enzymes from the barley to convert the oat starch to sugar.

    Stale ale.

Thanks for sharing. If stored well hops and malt both last quite a while. Last year I finished up some Centennial hops I had in the freezer about three years. I had open and closed these many times but they were always kept in the freezer.

Batch priming vs adding sugar to bottles

I've been at this over thirty years. The longer I'm at it the more I appreciate simplicity. I'm about done with sugar cubes. Think I'm going back to a measuring spoon and loose sugar. Never had a problem doing it before.

What's on your to brew list?

Thanks for the info! There does seem to be a lot of mixed feelings about the Real Ale kit. Primary complaint seems to be its overall bitterness. I'm going to mix it up per the can but probably short to 21 liters to boost the abv and flavor a bit. I usually do a batch size of about 12 liters...

What's on your to brew list?

Coopers Real Ale kit.. Long time all grain brewer. Haven't done a canned kit in 23 years. Got to give one a go to see how they've changed. Lots of people say they are a lot better. Would have to be spectacular to give up grain brewing. Can't criticize them if you haven't made one. Hoping I'm...

    Deathrow Sandwich

Same here! Also, something that'll make a ugly mess if I puke during the procedure.

    New setup

Even if the ingredients kit is a couple months out of date it'll be fine. Brew it up! Seems like a darn good deal on the package. Bunch of equipment for the price.

    I can't seem to brew!

This sounds like the description for the "One-Step" sanitizer I use here in the states. Due to U.S. EPA regulations it's not classified as a sanitizer but it works as one. Been using it a couple years without problems. I like that it's got a pretty low environmental impact. No iodine like...
