Now you mention it, I did do that so I'll invest in another just incase.

    First brew underway

So if I'm reading this right (which I may not be) that this is lower than 1.000 about about 0.995 and so slightly out as I should see some yellow?

    Which keg,

I already have a bar setup at home, with shelf chiller, taps, gas and s-key setup including cleaning socket. I'm looking at options for legging my home brew, I know about the corney kegs and they are easier to clean. However has anyone had any experience with these NDL kegs...

    First brew underway

Having done some research I can see my readings have not been accurate as they have not always been on at or around 20deg. I understand having the final 2 readings the same is the important part for me on these kits unless I haveiss understood - any other reasons for the OG other than abv calc?

Thanks I'll do on the next batch, I did use a wand but didn't think about having too much head space.

    First brew underway

Last night I bottled my first brew, it had been cold crashing for 48 hours, batch primed it and ended up with 43 bottles. Im really happy with it, tasted OK with no funny tastes or chemicals, obviously it's flat. So cleaned everything up and started my next one, Golden Rocket pale ale. And...

    First brew underway

So Checked the reading today and it's the same so I've put the fv in the fridge to cold crash and will bottle on Sunday. So far so good for my first batch.

    No bubbles in airlock.

My first ever batch have been on the go for 1 week now, not seen any bubbles but the gravity reading is reassuring. Like the above, I have not been concerned with no bubbles for the reasons mentioned

    First brew underway

Yes I have seen that and like the idea, plan to batch prime (if I have the right term) leave the bottles in the warm for 2 then into the fridge.

    First brew underway

Checked on the brew tonight- first 24hrs. Been sitting around the 20.5deg mark today will prob drop down to over night but the inkbird will keep in control of that. No bubbles yet in the airlock but don't plan to do anything now till the weekend whereby I'll take the next readings.

    First brew underway

I did a bit of window shopping last night and found 'get er brewed' well priced and also have a good offer on cornies at the moment.

So got my first brew underway this evening - a muntons pilsner. Hydrometer reading of 1030 before the yeast was sprinkled on. Now onto amazon to but more kit so I can get another batch going in a few weeks times.
