    Learning curve

If anyone cares to get back to me on this I'd appreciate it. Still learning! So, done a brew dog "Moshi Moshi' clone today and here are my queries.. 1. Didn't quite get the desired volume (about a litre and a half short). The gravity dropped to 0.990 whilst getting towards the end of the...

    Best commercial beer

Too many to mention, but our local M&S are beginning to stock some very tasty beers. Local to us (Leeds) they've got cans of Northern Monk's brews and Vocation's. Grabbed an Adnams laid back IPA in there tonight too and a four pure. All very nice indeed.

    Good old bottling day

Anyone else find it quite satisfying? Generally seems to be a thing people find a ball ache to do. I really enjoy the made beer going into the primed, cleaned, sterilized bottles. Capped, wiped and ready to condition. But seem to be alone in that..! I did my milk stout today and though currently...

    Everyones next planned brew?

I did my first ever AG with Challenger and Amarillo. Nothing near those amounts though . Thought Amarillo was a lovely hop so I'd be happy to do one like this. Thanks

    Everyones next planned brew?

I've got my Amarillo left to use after my next brew. Can it be used for bittering as well as flavour/aroma? Did you use just a pale malt? I'm thinking of doing this

    Everyones next planned brew?

Had a trawl through DIY Dog recipes to find one that fits to use my hop stash. Moshi Moshi fits the bill, although won't be dry hopping with quite those amounts.. Grain Extra pale 3kg (using golden promise and slightly more) Munich 0.13kg Crystal 150 0.19kg Caramalt 0.88kg Hops (g)...

Quick Q regarding bottling and conditioning..

Just wondering should I prime my bottles for a milk stout like I have for my previous 3 brews? A tsp in each? When it comes to bottling day? Also, fermenting action has slowed right down after 4 days. Will take another reading tonight . Have previously left in the fv for 2 weeks, should that...

    Learning curve

I'm completely baffled, got to be honest! Yes, as long as the beer turns out well that's all well and good isn't it? But I'm keen to learn and get things right. Think I need to read plenty on this... somewhere!

    Efficiency help please..

I have used Brewers Friend for my last brew (and the first time I've used any such thing). http://www.brewersfriend.com/homebrew/recipe/edit/346327 I put in all my ingredient details, set the efficiency at 70 as had no idea about it. The OG came out at 1068 but the figures in there suggest it...

    Efficiency help please..

Can anyone point me in the direction of a thread if this has been explained on here before? If not, can anyone kindly break it down and tell me how I should be working this out to stop me head scratching! Cheers :)

    Learning curve

Only 4 AG brews in so still learning the ropes but loving brewing. Did my Mikkeller Milk Stout clone at the weekend and got a couple of issues to try and clear up with some helpful guidance hopefully. . 1. Strike temp to mash temp dropped too far. Probably the cold day and the non heated garage...

    Everyones next planned brew?

Doing my Mikkeller Milk Stout clone this weekend. Going to have a ton of Amarillo , cascade, centennial and Columbus left over so planning a brew after that for end of April . Got a recipe for an American Imperial IPA that apparently is similar to Pliny The Elder by Russian River Brewing Co.

    Pale Chocolate Malt ..

I'm having a go at Mikkellers Milk Stout for my next brew. I've got all the ingredients apart from the pale chocolate. Without having to order online and pay far more than Id like through shopping, any ideas on tweaking this at all? Or if anyone in the Leeds area knows where I can get some...

    Mikkeller's Milk Stout

Appreciate a milk stout isn't everyone's 'cup of tea' but I've grown to really like them. I got a wonderful gift at Christmas - Mikkellers Book Of Beer. Has a good few recipes in along the lines of easy to complicated. This comes in under 'easy' so feel quite comfortable with it as I've only...

    A yearn to learn..

So helpful, thanks to all. Really do appreciate the comments. Going to crack on and brew as often as able. The 3 I have done so far have all turned out great, 2 pales and a stout. Going to alternate between a simple brew (using differnet hop varieties) and something a bit more challenging. Got...
