What do you use to sprinkle sparge water?

Just a cheap old shower head on the end of some tubing :)

    Mikkellers Book of beer.

I've done the milk stout and beer geek breakfast stout. both turned out fabulous. There are a few typos as people have said. One recipe grain bill adds up completely wrong. But its a great book to have nonetheless. Thoroughly recommend it!

Are Ultra Hopped Beers Just a Fad?

Horses for courses etc. I dont think it's a fad, many people enjoy the heavily hopped beers and more people are discovering the delights of ultra tasty beer. Me included. I used to buy randomly from the supermarket shelves, and whilst that selection is improving month on month, I go to my...

Beer is nuts... or can be?

Would you have any suggestions on how much to add into a 20/23ltr brew?

Home Brew Forum Competition Schedule & Style Guide.

Yep. Think we've done this in the other thread but just for sure it's a definite yes ☺

Beer is nuts... or can be?

This sounds the way forward. Thanks for that. Add it into the secondary just like adding the coffee in the oatmeal stout I've just done?

Beer is nuts... or can be?

Is that cheating? Or the best way maybe?

Beer is nuts... or can be?

Totally in love with modern day stouts in all forms (good job as I'm judging January's Stout comp!). At the moment we can't get enough of strong imperial stouts, coffee.. chocolate etc, that are very dessert like. If you know what I'm talking about I'm thinking the likes of Siren's cake stout...

Home Brew Competition - January 17

Really looking forward to all your entries for this comp. There will be two of us judging and we're both massive stout fans, in all forms! Hoping for some diversity too... I know Imperials aren't allowed in this category but really hope for some unusual stuff as well as traditional. Always loved...

Home Brew Competition - January 17

Clones are accepted as stated in the rules I believe. I put a brewdog pale forward for the one just gone so yes, being them on!

    Carbonation in cold conditions

Leave mine indoors for 2 weeks nice and ambient temp to carb up . Then 2 weeks in the garage. Not had a problem doing it this way since I started

    Chocolate Orange

Where can you find this please? Just got into a couple of beer podcasts :)

    Beer / milk crates

I just keep an eye out on my travels. Found a few milk crates just discarded here and there. Also a polish shop I know often puts proper sturdy beer crates out for rubbish. I just ask if I can take them. Tidies the garage up a treat.

Home Brew Competition - November 16

It is yes. I actually did it back in the Summer, not specifically for a comp. When I read about the monthly comps in here I had 2 bottles left!. Wanted to sample the second one to last to see what I thought of it after a few months and make sure it was still alright to enter it. So that's why...

Home Brew Forum Competition - October 16

Well done JFB! As a fan of black IPAs I'm really chuffed for you. Especially if you've only been brewing for such a short time! Gives hope and encouragement for us like minded ones. I've done about ten AG brews in about 18months so a long way to go in the learning quarters still. Nice one
