Can I connect a beer engine to a King Keg?

I researched this last year at great length before giving up. There were some very good website guides I found and a youTube clip of someone explaining their setup. Pub casks are under zero pressure but for my corny keg I was planning to keep 2-3 psi on top with co2 to stop it going off. I...

    First kegerator!

I've avoided the back of my fridge altogether with a drill as I was advised that was where all the action is coolant wise. I've drilled the side now in total 7 times for various setups and not come across a coolant line yet. I drill a small pilot hole from the inside (as it's much softer...

    HOPS ? newbi question

I think a SMASH is a great suggestion to start. With the right type of hop you can use some in the boil, some at flame out and some as a dry hop. I did a few different smashes with the same hop and the same weight of hop in total but used at different points in the brew. You'll soon find out...

Corny Kegs Just Seem to Vanish!

Interesting to know who has got the biggest family of Corny kegs. Only four for me.

    Stout Colour

I can confirm it is ruby red. My mate at Uni drank about 10 pints of Guinness one St Patrick's day and vomited in spectacular style. We all thought it was blood initially but one slightly more seasoned drinker pointed out the ruby red nature of Guinness!!!

    Square bottles

My mate came back off holiday and a plastic pressurised keg had split in his kitchen. The beer had seeped most the way round the ground floor of his house and was even wicking it's way up the stair carpet. After about 2 weeks in warm weather the smell was unbearable!!! After hearing this...

    Basics

Whilst force carbing leave it connected. Make sure you're definitely leak free first though. A bottle of co2 soon disappears even with a small leak!!! I tend to leave my co2 switched off after that unless I'm serving.

    Basics

There are a load of different methods to force carbing. Have a search of some of the previous threads. If you are desperate to drink the stuff you can carb it up quite quickly with a high pressure and some rocking and shaking. But I think the more approved method is slower and steadier. If...

    PTFE liquid......yes or no?

All sorted. No leaks so far. Went for two turns of the gas tape on each barb and some Oetiker clips.

    finally....

I've just sorted out my fridge too. I made my shelf out of two old bits of wooden engineered floor. The tongue and groove really gives it some strength.....hopefully.

    Hello from Chester

Welcome. Had a good night out in Chester last year. Some great ale houses now to choose from. My missus wasn't overly impressed with the Old Boot though!!!!

    Adding fruit to beer kits

My recent attempt at a Belgian Cherry Beer tastes just like the "Snake Bite and Black" I used to drink as a student!! The flavour wasn't quite what I intended but on the whole it is a peculiarly nice pint.

    PTFE liquid......yes or no?

You've got me sufficiently worried enough not to use it now. I'm going to try just the pipe, barbs and my fancy oetiker clips I think and go from there. Thanks for the guidance chaps.

    PTFE liquid......yes or no?

The stuff I've got is marked safe for hot and cold water pipes so I assumed it would ok for the gas lines. Would you not say this is the case? The way I've seen it used is on the barbs so in theory there shouldn't be any in contact with the co2.

    PTFE liquid......yes or no?

Just in the process of upgrading my kegorator. Currently have one beer tap and a single gas feed. Just upgraded to 3 beer taps and a 4 gas feeds via a 4 way gas manifold. I have space for four kegs in my fridge. I tried to get the gas splitter in my fridge initially but realised it was too...

    Brewing Stand

I got hold of two plaster board pallets. The box nature of pallets makes them very rigid and easy to build with for someone with limited woodwork skills like me. I couldn't be bothered to build up any extra height for my burco boiler and still sparge with a big jug instead. The whole thing...

    Those bloody Grainfather silicone seals

I don't have too much bother myself with a few quick sprays of Starsan. However my dad struggled a bit. He now pops the plate (complete with seal in place) in his freezer for 10-20 mins and the big cylinder in his nice warm bolier cupboard. I think the plate shrinks slightly but I suspect the...

The Shocking State Of John Smith's

I went drinking in Durham with a Uni mate about 15 years ago and he said "I'll get you a pint of John Smith's, it's a really nice pint in here". I remember saying "I'll pass thanks". Luckily I'd misheard him and it was a SAM Smith's pub (Swan and Signets) and sure enough the bitter was spot...
