    Cornu keg connections

Ok, now I'm pretty much there carbonation wise & I'm certainly drawing a lot of froth from just the tap. So certainly time to look at the line and connections I think. Only I've yet to convert the fridge (and won't have the time till next month) and don't like the idea of using an unattached...

    And we worry about infection

I seen that part of the Hairy Bikers last night, well more the program got my attention with the brewery article. And to see it all open was a WTF moment!. More so taking the sample, trying it and then chucking it back in!. But yeah, the volume and generated co2 from such a volume would...

    Dry hop a Pilsner

I'm far from an expert, but really love dry hopped ales. And if it turns out anything close to the aldi small (330ml) dry hopped lager then you could be onto a winner. I really want to try dry hopping again myself, but after a ruined brew last year with 150g ish of dry hopping going to waste...

    Cornu keg connections

For now, I also have just got the tap that connects to the keg and hope to test things fully in the next couple of days. Though when I eventually get some line out for the beer I sure don't intend to use more than 3ft at the most unless my actual results indicate otherwise. Far to many...

    Time for my First Lager?

Yep, and where my next kit will be an off the shelf kit with a replaced yeast likely the MJ's M76 Bavarian Lager yeast where the suggested fermentation temps for that yeast is 8-14°. Will be interesting in the difference and brewing time.

    Time for my First Lager?

What confuses me with "lager" kits against lager recipes if the vast differences in both processes & brewing times. My current & previous "lager" kits were both kits that the brewing instructions were pretty much exactly the same (both brewing time & fermentation temps) as most other ale kits...

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

Yep, went with these in the end, though I was quoted £50 for the deposit & £10 for the gas with free delivery. Should have it tomorrow so made up with that, just in time for a long weekend of testing my first keg full of beer that's pretty much ready :) .

    Time for my First Lager?

I'd like to think there is or must be a method to ferment under pressure whilst preventing carbonation to the point you can't get an accurate reading, such as releasing the pressure daily?. Maybe drawing the sample and letting it rest for the carbonation to go flat is an option?. Or if even...

    Time for my First Lager?

Must admit, as I move towards corny kegs after only priming in the plastic pressure barrel once if a brew can be fermented under pressure?. As I understand (and as mentioned above) 10 PSI is about the limit for these pressure barrels so wandering what difference this might make to both...

Converting an under-counter fridge for corny kegs

I am also wandering if the lowest temp in a fridge would be a workable temp range for fermenting lagers?. Great if so, but somewhat problematic if I wanted to serve a ready ale during what would be a longer fermentation period for low temperature fermentation?. Also can corny kegs be used for...

Converting an under-counter fridge for corny kegs

Yep, I do like most beers cold, more so with most lager & pale ales etc. Only in my excitement I only measured the night of the fridge, seems the width is about 3 inch to narrow to fit the second leg in!. Dam, ah well 1 at a time is better than nothing I guess. Then again (though dare not...

Beerworks President's Sierra American Pale Ale review

The one thing that struck me as I filled up the fv to 22.5 litres was that it looked quite a bit darker than I would have expected for what's a "pale ale", certainly looking darker than my previous lager brew. Time will tell I guess as it is in a large volume and might be just me.

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

I like a lot of your post. And I get some of that as having worked at beer festivals and used the hand pumps for stout (which first got me into drinking stouts) I always thought that it pulled right it comes over as better than what stout I've since tried in a pub at unnecessarily much lower...

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

Nar, I often have a habit of over thinking things and thanks for the responses & insight. It's certainly helped convince me to scrap the mixed gas idea and stick with pure co2. Though with regards to the difference between food grade & industrial grade, I thought it was down to higher...

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

Thanks, which begs the question, do any home brewers bother with single mixed gas bottles?. As if all we really want or need the gas for most of the time is carbonation and serving, well is there any benefit to getting anything other than pure co2?.

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

Ah, so to the home brewer the nitrogen is only ever any good to push the beer then?. And as I'm only going to do the occasional stout over the next year then any high nitrogen mix would be pointless then?, more so if I'm looking at gas to force carbonate as much as serving pressure. Of cause...

Brewdog Craft Beer for the People

Was looking at the Elvis recipie, jesus, the hop count in that is crazy, near 300g for a 25l boil!.

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

So what roughly would a lowest co2 content mix be to fully carb lager?, about 50/50 I'm guessing as the most lowest?. So a 60\40 mix I'm guessing should easily fully force carb a lager or suitable pale ale?.

    Co2 suppliers Liverpool?

Lol, well I'm oh so tempted, and where the pure co2 food grade yet used for there stated industrial use as well then no problem. But I must admit to being tempted by a nitrogen mix as I'm not sure exactly what brews I'll be doing in the next few months and with a 10 litre cylinder capable of...
