    Vimto cider

I've never used champagne yeast though.

    Vimto cider

If this doesn't work I really think it's had it. It must be the amount of vimto you've used. But give it a go and keep your fingers crossed.

    Noob trying a turbo cider.

Hi maffa, yeh pretty much the same as any brew. I'm keeping it in the primary until it stops fermenting or hydrometer is 995. Then straight into bottles with 2 tsp of sugar for fizz. You can put it in secondary, but as it will allow even more yeast to drop out, you'll have to wait longer for the...

    Noob trying a turbo cider.

All looks good, what was the idea with the teaspoon of sugar though, that will have practically no effect on the brew. The above will ferment to about 5-6% abv. I've put 4 litres in mine and after the initial foam up, about 4 days, I'm going to put another half litre in. I've also put in 25g of...

    cider bottleing

Hi dude, fear not, you can use PET bottles, white glass, green glass, pink it doesn't matter. It's whatever you have and what ever is easier. Cider is usually quite a fizzy beast though so I would suggest using a nice thick magners/ gaymers bottle. But Grolsh bottles would be fine. For cider I...

    Vimto cider

You could add yeast nutrient to give the yeast a kick start. If not I would get some youngs super wine yeast in the little white tub, tesco stocks it, and chuck some of that in. I just don't think the cider yeast has enough balls for that.

    Young's Winebuddy Chardonnay

You could always add more white or red grape juice instead of water, you'll have to adjust the sugar, but that's easy done using your hydrometer.

Wilkinson's Golden Ale 2 Can Kit

Nice one, it's a nice beer and only gets better with age. I must admit when it comes to hydrometers, half the time I don't bother. I have no interest in how strong it is just the taste. Add that to the fact that my beers stay in the fermenting bucket for 3 weeks, I know they are fully fermented...

how to stop beer becoming too carbobated.

Sounds like a plan, I thought about cutting a foot off the pipe, and as I've come home this morning and found fizzy mild ale, not right at all, I think that's what I'll do.

how to stop beer becoming too carbobated.

I have the opposite problem with my ale. I have two cornies set up at the mo with two more conditioning. I have a wherry in one and mild ale in the other. It's set at 10 psi at 13.8 c and I'm getting no head unless I drop the glass lower during pouring. I think mine is to do with to much serving...

Why is milestone raspberry wheat beer too fizzy?

Hi Steve, I have a dishwasher and I use it to periodically clean bottles that are in storage. But I've never used it for sterilising. Always worry that it'll miss a little bit of smeg or the rinsing liquid will leave residue, so I individually clean and sterilise with youngs stuff. So do you do...

    Badger golden glory "todays brew''

Hi soup, what point of the brew would you add the essence. I'd thought of adding it to the fermentation bucket, but with not knowing about its ingredients would it interfere with the yeast. Cheers Andrew.

I want to make something like john smiths or creamflow

The nitro that you use for stouts is the co2 nitro mix. They are usually, someone will correct me if I'm wrong, a 70/30 mix. But if you're after a cream flow bitter, then they'll do it. Stouts as well of course. If you get more into cornie kegs and a gas set up, you can get mixes of 30/70 all...

Wilkinson's Golden Ale 2 Can Kit

Ok first off calm down, the bulging is the co2 pushing up the lid, it also forms a layer, as it's heavier than air, protecting your brew. Now the instructions to your brew should have told you to leave the lid slightly open in any case. It may look like the fermentation has stopped but it won't...

I want to make something like john smiths or creamflow

You can also buy a nitrogen and co2 mix for the mini gas chargers. Beats me why you want something like john smiths or worthingtons, that's why I started homebrewing so I could stop drinking that swill. Watch YouTube and learn as much as you can, hop additions and steeping grains for different...

youngs strawberry wine kit not fermenting

Nice one, I'm wondering how old the kit was. I've got a couple of out of date strawberry kits and I have to get more yeast. I'm not sure but I think they've stop making it. I shouldn't think you'll have many more problems but if you've added the extra water I not sure if you'll get full...

What are you fermenting it in. These little wine kits suit demijohns perfectly, that's what I use.

    wilko 25 percent sale

I never get anything from wilcos unless they're having a sale and I'm sure unless your town doesn't have a HBS no one else dose either. They should have a permanent sale. Although they do have three milestone kits that you can't get anywhere else sooooo.......
