Not as much wort as I expected. Low gravity. What to do?

I bought a second Kettle (tank) from ebay. It is handy because it has thin sides and heats faster than my original tank. My original is 30 litres and this was sold as 30 litres. Mine could be bigger than I thought, the new one could be smaller. Or perhaps they are the same and that isn't the...

Mead primary stopped bubbling after 3 1/2 weeks. What now?

It does taste a bit acidic. But I'm pleased for a first effort, especially considering how high the ABV got. I will back-sweeten with honey and whatever spices take my fancy once I have let it settle for at least a month. Should I leave it at room temperature or expose it to the real cold out...

Mead primary stopped bubbling after 3 1/2 weeks. What now?

The mixture was hardly bubbling the last couple of days. I made my first batch of mead in a 1 imperial gallon demijohn with 4 340g jars of lidl honey and a half jar of eucalyptus honey. I added some cloves, some whole pepper corns, vanilla extract, and mango. After a few days I added some...

Using Marmite as a nutrient in mead brew?

Do you think I could add the gunk from the bottom of the tank from when I mash beer?

Using Marmite as a nutrient in mead brew?

I read it somewhere. Since I've never eaten marmite I wasn't aware it was salty. I added a tea spoon two days ago and another a day ago. The yeast is still apparently working well. I could add something to neutralize the salt, but I don't want to get into a "swallowed a spider to catch a fly"...

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary flop.

"Racism" was invented as a rhetorical trick to shut down discussion. So, something can be true but also "racism". For example, the latest FBI crime stats in USA show that 13% of the population does 60% of the murders. You can be called for "racist" for bringing it up.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle documentary flop.

Netflix got the series for political reasons rather than to make money. They did a lot of political programming but they are now dialing it back as people canceled their subs. Streaming has also become a lot more competitive.

Using Marmite as a nutrient in mead brew?

Hi everyone, I started my first mead on 6th December, with 4 340g jars of Lidl honey, half a jar of eucalyptus honey I had, 14g of bread yeast, a sliced up mango. This was the stuff I had on hand. Back on 11th, and then again on 12th, I added some marmite (actually the aldi equivalent) which...

    Most cost efficient bottles?

Thanks. I was thinking of getting this table top crowner. https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/134271139356

    Most cost efficient bottles?

What size caps do I need? Are they standard, or are they standard for certain volumes eg 330ml, 500ml use 26mm caps, 750ml use 29mm caps? I've seen hand crowners for £10-£14. Are they specific to a cap size?

Should I take mango skins out of my mead?

I forgot to mention the specific gravity which was 1.092.

    Most cost efficient bottles?

Doh! Of course. Good suggestion, which I should have thought of.

    Most cost efficient bottles?

I love this. I ask a question and the problem is solved by drinking more beer. The world will be a more happy and peaceful place when people understand the answer to many questions is to drink more beer. I am going to Asda to get the 4 for 3 bottles of 8.5% Duvel for £6. I will buy a crowner...

    Most cost efficient bottles?

I am in South East London. My local waitrose has 440ml grolsch 4% beer in the swing top bottles for £1.70. I wonder if drinking my way through grolsch is the most cost efficient way to pick up these bottles, if I am going to drink 'nornal' beer until I do another batch of my own anyway. I see...

Should I take mango skins out of my mead?

About 40 hours ago I started my first batch of a mead. Just at that point I read I should include some nutrients for the yeast. So looked around the kitchen and found a mango. I put about half, or 2/3 of the fruit, into boiling water for a few minutes and then put it into the mix. Subsequently...

    New brewer

Hi everyone I am new to brewing. I bought a Chinese water/alcohol distiller kit which you can separate out into the main tank and the vapor and cooling columns. So you don't need to use it to distill. It includes a large 'kettle' / fermentation tank that can sit on the stove. I made a batch of...
