Poochops GF Brewday #6 - Cwtch

Hmmm 3 weeks in the bottle and just poured my 1st. What can I say? Well I carbed it with drops and its under carbed for my preferences. That head you see was added using a syringe! It is very creamy though, the body is lovely and the injected head lasted till the bottom of the glass. Bittering...

    Not enough bottles

Treat yourself to a box of 24 500ml PET bottles from Wilkos some of mine must have had a dozen brews through them and they're still fine, only problem with 2l bottles is you're kind of committed to emptying them all in one sitting

    Cwtch by Tiny Rebel Brewery

I've done this twice twang free and even though I do AG these days I will probably do another one. It's a great tasting beer for a kit.

    2kg Lactose

I just add it to my grain orders when I need it, most places it's about £3.50 for 500g. Do you have a lot of milk stouts planned?

My brew from scratch, what dya reckon ?

Well 50g for 45min will give you 50 ibu, it'll be quite bitter but you should get away with it. You would benefit from some brewing software now your going into grains and hops. Keep it out of daylight for a few weeks and watch it doesn't blow out of the demijohn there's not enough headspace in...

My brew from scratch, what dya reckon ?

Did you mash the lager malt first? Assuming you did then your wort will be around 1.055 at 9 litres. How much hops did you boil and how long for?

    What are you drinking tonight?

My very last bottle of Woodfordes Wherry which was my very first brew! Must be nearly 18 months old, I brewed it to 6.8% because, alcohol. Goodbye homebrew twang, it's been emotional.

Poochops GF Brewday #6 - Cwtch

No Munich that's right, I must have had a brain fart when I put my order together  it will be a bit less malty but on the other hand should have a good head  I tend to mash at 3l yes, just find it easier to wet everything out properly and my conversion rate is excellent. Does it make a...

Poochops GF Brewday #8 Brewdog Jackhammer

I didn't bother with the extra 300g of sugar before I pitched, it's been on 8 days at 22 degrees today, FG 1.016 so 74% attenuation which is a bit annoying. Checked back on my previous brews using CML American pale ale yeast and they've been similar at this mash temp, and 70% at 68 degrees...

    Brewers Friend

I've got this and BeerSmith 2 on the iPad, plus the grainfather app. I've got to say I much prefer brewers friend. I load my recipes, do my water and copy the file to the grainfather app it's really much better than the app.

Poochops GF Brewday #8 Brewdog Jackhammer

I used crossmyloof for these £25.79 delivered. I did say £30 give or take a bob or two! CML are on FB they're great for smaller quants because the prices include delivery. Pricelist here https://www.scribd.com/document/352959874/01-Crossmyloof-Discount-July-17

Poochops GF Brewday #8 Brewdog Jackhammer

I think the whole brew cost somewhere around £30 give or take a bob or two. Helped greatly by using 79p yeast and a bit of leftover DME. I justify the cost by having three brews in the pipeline that cost about 8 quid each so it all averages out in the end :thumb:

    Festival Beer Kits

Done the New Zealand Pilsner once and to be fair its very good, still got a couple of dozen left probably nine months old because I don't drink lager that often and it's aged very well.

    Bottles

If it had beer in in the first place just crack-on they'll be fine. I've used all sorts and never had a problem and you're right some are lighter than others but they're ok, only time you might ever have a problem is if you over prime, get an infection or bottle too soon but you're in control of...
