Mentioned previously, if you use the supplied bottom filter and sit a false bottom on the top. It will reduce lift on the filter and you will see less debris when you transfer to FV

Let me know how you get on matey with that filter please. At sparge set to 2500w, roll back to 1800w a few degrees before its achieved. At boil set to 2500w, roll back to 2100w once achieved. Don't press the top filter down to much on the grain bill, just lay it on top. Also you will need...

    Wetherby Brewery - Brewing Experience

Did a brewing experience day at Wetherby Brewery, West Yorkshire last weekend. Highly recommend it if local to the area, great team using local malts from Thomas Fawcett (Castleford) and you get to brew on commercial kit. A day of learning the full brewing experience and you get to make a beer...

    Four Priests Brewery YouTube channel

Always something a little more special when you drink in your local pub supping a pint brewed local to the area.

    Brew2Bottle Customer Service

Still very dubious about using B2B, I also got the recent marketing email. I would just advise to order on a credit card if possible, if the kit doesn't arrive it will be easier to get your money back. We don't know the truth behind all the problems, I just hope they haven't walked away from...

    DIY Keg Washer

Have a quick look on the Four Priests videos on YouTube, great example of a keg/FV washer and the parts needed

    Going back to kits?

I mix AG brewing and kits simply due to time constraints. Try to have both an AG brew and a kit on tap at both times. I can't recommend the Dark Rock session kits enough coupled with their enhancers, for around £20 you get some great beer.

    Hazelwood’s Brewday Part 2

    Some great looking beers 👏

    Woodfordes Tinsel toes

Tinsel Toes is a great kit, not sure how it would taste when it's 26 degrees outside 🤣. Stick it away for Crimbo

What are you drinking tonight 2022?

Youngs America Mocha Porter I kinda forgot about these as I stick most brews in corny kegs, however these bottles are around 14-15 months old. This really is fantastic for an extract kit, one of the best in my opinion. Tastes fantastic after all these months

    A word on protofloc…

No issues with clarity on the final product @the baron ? You are quite right, kits come with a whole tablet and no instructions about breaking it up

    A word on protofloc…

Interesting @chopps on the 30L, as I don't notice this in the FV, however it's very possible that moving it to a corny and not disturbing the trub I have missed it. The beer is fine, might go back to 1/2 tablet to save some brass (Yorkshire thinking 🤣)

Hi @Cwrex Firstly be careful when cleaning the mesh trays, they are sharp. I forget to wear gloves constantly and hack my hands to bits! As above get the temp calibration done, personally I always sparge but you have options. Plus I use it in manual mode, never automatic. These units are...

Not checking the weather forecast before running a brewday in the garden 🌧

    A word on protofloc…

Very similar @hoppyscotty , I use protofloc tablets and see no issues in using a whole tablet (23L) batch. The beers are always crystal clear unless of course its a style such as Hazy etc. No imparted taste issues between that and half a tablet. Irish Moss different, measured out by...

    Dark Rock Bosses Boss

Happily working through the Bosses Boss, went without the added 1KG of brewing sugar and still above 6%. This is a great beer, strong but with bags of hoppy flavour. Tasts even better after 4 weeks of conditioning.

    Campden or Purebrew during fermentation?

Purebrew is slightly different to Campden in that it also contains yeast nutrients. I use Campden in my water treatment, added to mash/sparge water 30 mins or so before all AG brewing Purebrew added in extract kits at yeast pitch. You will find all sorts of threads about twang on the forum...

    A word on protofloc…

Fascinating thread as many of the AG kits (25L) which come with protofloc and weighed out measures, simply tell you to add it in the last stages of the boil. Nothing about reducing the size of the tablet

    Muntons Flagship Hazy IPA

Never done it matey, it's on the list.
  20. White Rose Al

    Muntons Flagship Hazy IPA

I left it out matey, it still finished 6%+ which is more than ample. Yes it's totally down to your personal choice and you can leave it out, no change in taste
