    How often do you brew?

Once a month, or when needed. Only have 2 kegs at the moment, and stock of bottles is good so holding off until I have space. Would like to do more as I like doing a brewday, but space and waistline restrict this 😄

    Other hobbies

Music. Listening and playing, mainly indie rock. Was supposed to be at Kendal calling last week, gutted can't go to gigs or festivals at minute. Started playing guitar a bit more in lockdown as well. Kids take up a lot of my time as well. Want to take up paddle boarding

The little book of dreams to be no more.

Ah man. I still get my kids to do that now, really reminded me of my childhood Christmases.

    stephenj brew day

Kegged the Wunder Lager clone on Thursday after 3 days at raised temp (18c), 3 days dry hop, and 2 days cold crash. Had a tester of this yesterday, lovely 'clean' mouth feel with the fruity/citrus hops coming through beautifully. No signs of off flavours so temp rise worked I assume. Not going...

why does my home brew lager taste like wine

Might need a bit more info for people to help the best we can but I'll get started to see if can help. One thing I've found for lager is generally you should leave it to condition for a while before seeing full end product. I have lagers/blondes that have been bottled a year and I can now...

    stephenj brew day

Cheers. Think I'll increase to 18-20c and dry hop at that temp for 3 days before cold crash for a couple of days.

    stephenj brew day

Just took a reading and has dropped to 1.008 which is a decent bit lower than the 1.013 (now coming out at 5.25.%). Not looked at it or touched it since brewing 11 days ago and was greeted by this. I think it looks like floating leftover crap from the Krausen but wanted to see if anyone could...

First effort with a Corny Keg

Love having cornys, so much easier than bottling and I find the quality of the poured beer is much better (maybe I was doing something wrong bottling but always had leftover cr@p in bottom of bottle). They are breeding fast though!!!

    stephenj brew day

Thought I'd start up a thread to track my thoughts and ideas on brew day. Yesterday brewed what turned out to be my 22nd AG brew which surprised me a little considering had about 6 months not brewing last year. Anyway, yesterday did a clone of Wunder Lager by Brussels Beer project after...

Create the Recipe then stick to it?

I try to plan as best as possible and stick to it. I have really bad short term memory and if I don't have a tick off list and write everything down is get stressed out. Up until brew day though it morphs all the time with advice and ideas from here and the net. As a side note, I actually...

    Fermentation advice

Just leave it for now. Whether I've used kits or AG I leave for 2 weeks before I do anything (unless a major obvious issue like the Krausen coming out of FV!) It does most of its stuff first few days, so you could take a sample in a few days and if it looks stuck, get a well sanitised...
