What are you drinking tonight 2021?

My Muntons Courage Best which is turning into a halfway decent pint. Shame it has been discontinued but it has revamped my bitter mojo. I'm only having a couple as I'm on earlies again in the morning which starts at 7 - or rather is supposed to start at 7 but the night Skipper was lying in...

    Splitting a Kit?

Not wishing to start a new thread but by way of varying this one...has anyone 'doubled' up a budget kit by using two tins of the same stuff to mimic a two-can premium kit? I once mixed a Wilko Newkie and a Wilko Stout together (mindful that neither was particularly pleasant on their own) that...

    Directors - Quick question

I bottled my Diectors last night. It had 7 days primary, then dropped to a clean FV with 100g of sugar for 4 days. Crash cooled for 2 days then dropped to another bucket from which bottled (100g batch priming) comes out at 4.1% which is down on the proprietary product, though I realise I...

Would you like to be 18 again?

Apparently, when at a (very boring) work well-being seminar and discussing what one might theoretically like to be reincarnated as, "Kylie Minogue's bar of soap" is NOT the correct answer. Who'd have thought that, then? (I got 'a bit of a talking to' for that one - one of many over the years)

    Beer and Curry

I've used it in Chinese. I use lager, peanut butter and spices as the base for a sticky satay sauce.

    Curry Compendium

The mix powder I use is sold by my local spice shop and is th same one the family use in their restaurants. There are three brothers and they each run an establishment - different styles, though I have my favourite. Needless to say the exact make up of the mix is a closely guarded family...

    Curry Compendium

I have them too - great recipes. He has a first rate YouTube channel as well. I thoroughly recommend the books. It helps if you have the right ingredients. Despite living in the depths of ruralshire we have an excellent spice shop run by the family that has three different restaurants in town.

    Show us your cars.

Mine was VUT485S. It was mum's and I bent it but bought it from the insurance company with the profit of my BT shares, repaired and ran it for a couple of years as I joined the Army and then sold it when I went to Germany

I was not drunk last night

It's always there at the back of your mind. Complaints are common, though the introduction of body-worn video has reduced the number of complaints by 75%. I've had all my complaints rejected other than one where I was 'advised' about how to speak to members of the public. I was...

I was not drunk last night

Thanks, a bit like my nephew and niece, who are both pilots describe a successful landing as 'one you walk away from' we tend to regard a successful shift as 'didn't get hurt, didn't get sacked'.

I was not drunk last night

Tomorrow morning is my first day back at work for two weeks. I hope I can remember my password and the combination to the TASER safe (I'm a response copper). I predict somewhere in the region of 100 emails - most of which will be 'helpful' things from senior management, such as 'The effect of...

    How stupid can you get?

The best ones also ignore my occasional "Do not knock, I was on the night shift last night" and bang away half an hour after I've gone to bed. As for the 'God Squad' a few years ago (2009 to be exact) the Mormons (black suit and tie - think Blues Brothers without hat or shades-or humour) knock...

    Tesco Ashbeck Replacement?

I just use the stuff out of the tap, admittedly it's Pembrokeshire water and is very soft.

    Directors - Quick question

I put the Directors on today. Came in at 1042. Interestingly there is. sachet of hop powder which goes in at the start and the instructions suggest a short initial fermentation of 4-6 days, three days of secondary and priming as normal. I'll see what the gravity is after 6 days in the brew...
